Villa Lop

The complex of the luxury beachfront detached homes is located in the traditional settlement of Livadi in the island of Astypalaia (pronounced as ‘asti–pa–le-a’), carved into a rock hillside overlooking the beautiful Venetian castle and Chora, the island’s capital, as well as the beautiful beach of Livadi. The houses are built according to the traditional architecture. The white and blue colours dominate both in the exterior and interior. Each independent house is located at a different height and has its own courtyard and entrance. The complex reminds of the white cubic houses around the castle in Chora, with their whitewashed staircases. One of the architect’s goals was the harmonious integration of the complex into the landscape, respecting the surrounding environment and distinctive Astypalitian landscape. The Villa “Lop” is the largest of the two-story maisonettes of the complex of the villas spanning a total area of 64.00 sq.m. It consists of two bedrooms, bathroom, wc, and living room. On the ground floor is the spacious living room and fully equipped kitchen that features traditional furniture. In the same level, there is also an air-conditioned room with two single beds and a wc. On the upper level there is another air-conditioned bedroom, a double bed and its own spacious en-suite bathroom with hydro massage (equipped column). A traditional blue frame sash door leads the guest to the balcony with the wooden paneled railing (characteristic of the island), where one can gaze the magnificent views of the Aegean, the castle and the beach. The whole house is air conditioned and has its own independent roofed courtyard with its own parking space. It can accommodate up to 5 people. It also has its own safe and luggage compartment for better service to tenants. The decoration is simple, discreet and relaxing island. Traditional wooden ceilings, wooden wardrobes and furniture with references to the tradition of Astypalaia island are present, such as gkrizoles in the kitchen. Key elements of the design are the functionality of the villa and the comfortable and pleasant stay of visitors. It is for these reasons that the materials and products were selected from leading companies in the furniture, lighting, plumbing and mattresses (COCOMAT). The house “Lop”, with dominant colours being white and the blue, is a fine example of traditional, Aegean architecture equipped with all modern amenities for a pleasant, relaxing and memorable stay on the island Astypalaia.
