Villa Aechus

Villa Aechus is a unique Cycladian style villa built by a renowned architect in 2013. The Villa is situated in the exclusive area of East Crete and is situated only 200 meters from the shore, 150 meters above sea level. Built in the middle of an olive tree orchard, this luxurious single level villa offers privacy and breath taking views over Psira island and Tholos bay. Overlooking the Gulf of Mirabello on an arid mountain-scape of Crete nestles Villa Aechus. Constructed with organic shapes and amazingly lush exterior spaces facing towards the sensational landscape of sea and islands, the villa is framed naturally and gracefully fits in with its surroundings. The garden and orchard, which were created by a landscape architect, combine decorative and scented species in order to enjoy fruits and flowers the entire year round: olives, oranges, mandarins, lemons, figs, mousmoulia (a type of peach), pomegranate and aromatic plants – mint, rosemary – turn sitting in the shaded lounge near the garden into a deeply relaxing experience. The villa and gardens have been designed to provide multiple areas of shade during the day as the sun moves around the villa.  The main villa features a sitting room that opens to the pool terrace, providing a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living. The kitchen is fully equipped, offering everything needed for a comfortable stay. There is a double bedroom with a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room, as well as an additional double bedroom with a king-size bed. A further shower room is also available for convenience. The Cycladic-style annex room is separate from the main villa and includes a double bedroom with a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room. Tholos Beach is a mere 5 minute drive from the villa. The beach is formed at the exit of a fertile valley, surrounded by ancient olive groves and vineyards.  The beautiful beach is pebbly and sandy on its west side and hosts a small harbor. There are several tamarisk trees near the beach where you can find shade and a new taverna is being built on the beach opening 2017. The water is an unusual blurred colour of exotic tropical turquoise which is due to the underwater springs of fresh water coming from the massif of Thipti mountain (Tholos means blurred in Greek)
