Welcome to No. 2 Town Head Cottages, an historic and characterful Grade II listed building in the Vale of Grasmere at the heart of the English Lake District. Dating back to 1688, the cottage is an excellent base for walkers, hikers, bikers, and all those looking to explore the majestic Lakeland fells.

This property is full of character, with a simple, rustic style that reflects its age and original features. Due to the cottage’s age, heating is provided by storage heaters, which can take up to 24 hours to fully warm up. Guests may also notice a few quirks - part of the charm of a historic home! While it’s not a modern space, the cottage offers a cozy, authentic experience in a beautiful location.

Payment & Cancellation - 90 Day Policy

Grace Period:

  • Guests may cancel for free provided that: (1) reservation is canceled within 48-hours of reservation confirmation, and (2) reservation was confirmed at least 11 days before scheduled arrival.

Payment Policy:

  • 90 days or less prior to arrival: Guests pay 100% at time of reservation.
  • More than 90 days before arrival: Guests pay 50% at time of reservation (non-refundable), the remaining 50% will be charged 90 days prior to arrival.
  • For guests paying with Points or Cash & Points: 100% of payment of both Cash & Points will be deducted at time of reservation, once booking is verified within 48 hours.

Cancellation Policy:

  • 90 days or less prior to arrival: No refund issued, unless ‘Grace Period’ applies.
  • More than 90 days before arrival: initial 50% payment is forfeited; the remaining 50% will not be charged.
  • For guests paying with points more than 90 days before arrival: 50% of points taken are forfeited; the remaining 50% will be refunded within 5-10 business days.
