As the name suggests, at Lake James Lookout you can enjoy sweeping and spectacular year-round views not only of Lake James but of Linville Gorge Mountain, Shortoff Mountain, and Dobson Knob from the spacious porch, covered patio beneath the porch, or from the private boat dock. While a boat is not provided, you’re welcome to bring your own and use the boat slip at the dock. Spend your days lounging in the sun, swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and floating on the water, and spend your nights soaking in the luxurious hot tub or making delicious s’mores around the fire pit under the clear and starry sky. After sleeping in, take a leisurely stroll into the kitchen to make a delicious breakfast of eggs benedict, fresh fruit, and pimento cheese grits to enjoy at the breakfast bar or outdoor dining table on the porch. Sip your coffee while you watch the sun rising higher and higher over the sparkling lake before taking a mid-morning bubble bath with a mimosa in the sleek tub in the master bath.
On those inevitably rainy days or lazy afternoons, cozy up in the living room to stream your favorite movie or that show you’ve been meaning to watch before taking advantage of the gas grill and posh kitchen (complete with marble countertops, gas range stove with hood, farmhouse sink, and stainless appliances) to create a savory meal. In the evening, sway on the porch swing on the covered patio below the porch to watch the sunset before strolling down to the boat dock to unwind and enjoy a glass of wine as you stargaze and watch the moonlight reflect on the water. Lake James Lookout is in a gated community, The Peninsula, and offers a community pool available for renter use. Located just 45 minutes outside of Asheville in Nebo, NC, this gorgeous lakefront home is the perfect place to get away and enjoy everything the Lake James area has to offer.
Enjoy nearby hiking trails like the Fonta Flora Trail Loop or John Rock Trail before grabbing a refreshing craft beer at Fonta Flora’s open-air brewery at Whippoorwill Farm. Just 20 minutes away, you’ll find the quaint small town of Marion where you can grab a cold beer at Mica Town Brewing Company, fresh seafood and a cocktail at Crabby Abby’s Bar and Grille, or local handcrafted dish paired with the NC staple, Cheerwine, at McDowell Local. Before heading home, check out the Lake James Antique Mall, or take a short 20-minute drive to the charming town of Morganton where you can find novelty shops and art galleries to pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time in the mountains. This picturesque home is ideal for groups of friends or family, offering unparalleled opulence along with all of the features and amenities needed for a fantastic lakeside vacation any time of year!
