Charming and stylish Maison Muscadet has an enviable location in the heart of a pretty village in Les Alpilles. This authentic village house has been completely renovated but has cleverly retained its character with its wooden beams, exposed stone walls and colourful shutters.
It now benefits from an elegantly furnished interior, air-conditioning, a modern well equipped open plan kitchen and dining area, two comfortable en suite double bedrooms and a third bedroom with a private bathroom. There is office space in the entrance hall and a large bright living room which has access to the courtyard.
Not many of the local village houses have outside space so it’s very special to have this area for relaxing with a cup of coffee, al-fresco dining and most importantly taking a cooling dip in the delightful pool.
It is a short walk from Maison Muscadet to the heart of the village where you will find a good selection of shops, cafés and restaurants as well as the weekly market. Surrounded by swathes of olive groves, this is the perfect place to try out some excellent local olive oil on a piece of fresh baguette or a slice of goat’s cheese.
Les Alpilles is the home of small mountains, olive groves, vineyards and forests, a great place for family activities such as rock climbing, horse riding, hiking and mountain biking. The special quality of light, the sunflowers and iconic cypress trees were an inspiration to artist Vincent Van Gogh who lived in nearby Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a vibrant market town well worth a visit and still an inspiration for its resident artists.
Not far from Saint-Rémy is medieval Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s several Plus Beaux Villages in this area, perched on a plateau with fantastic views from the top. Indeed, Maison Muscadet is an excellent location for a variety of great day trips, maybe starting with the historic cities of Avignon and Arles, both on the magnificent River Rhone. Further afield are the wonders and wilderness of the Camargue with its pink flamingos, white horses, black bulls, lagoons and sandy beaches.

Location:
Maison Muscadet is situated in the heart of a pretty village, south of Les Baux de Provence and on the edge of Les Alpilles in the Bouches-du-Rhône region of southern France. It is within easy reach of Avignon TGV railway station and less than an hour’s drive from Marseille Provence Airport.
Tucked away in the foothills of Les Alpilles Natural Park, the village is surrounded by olive groves and its weekly market, selection of shops, restaurants and cafés are only a short walk from your holiday home. Don’t go home without sampling some of the region’s fine olive oil on a piece of fresh baguette.
Les Alpilles is a glorious spot in Provence where little houses in picture-perfect villages huddle around the church and line the plane tree shaded squares. It is the home of small scrub covered mountains, olive groves, pine and oak forests and is a great place for family activities such as rock climbing, horse riding, hiking and mountain biking.
The special quality of light, sunflowers and famous cypress trees were an inspiration to artist Vincent Van Gogh who lived in nearby Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (10km), a vibrant market town well worth a visit and still an inspiration for its resident artists.
Not far from Saint-Rémy is medieval Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s several plus beaux villages in this area, perched on a hilltop with views towards Arles, the Camargue and the small mountain range of Les Alpilles. Don’t miss the tiny and delightful village of Paradou (2km) which lies at the foot of the mountains, representing Provence in miniature and home to an excellent bistro.
Head northwards to the lively city of Avignon (38km) with its nursery rhyme bridge and Pope’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is a shorter drive westwards towards Arles (18km), renowned for its fine Roman remains – it’s magic to dine at a restaurant terrace beneath the plane trees in Place du Forum where Van Gogh once painted “Café Terrace at Night”.
Arles is a stepping stone to the magnificent Camargue at the Rhône delta with wild white horses, black bulls, pink flamingos, lagoons and red salt-pans reaching out towards the Mediterranean. There are so many exciting opportunities here including jeep tours, horse-riding, walking, quad biking and even a visit to one of its sandy beaches.
