About the area
Leave the stress of the city behind and wander rural roads bordered by century farms and historic homes, where the only traffic jams are caused by slow-going tractors or scads of sun-seekers heading to Sandbanks. Reconnect with nature by hiking, cycling, canoeing or fishing in and around The County’s 800km of shoreline. Feed your senses with music, theatre and performances set in picturesque vineyards or paired with a pint at the local pub. Get your hands dirty at in-studio art workshops or volunteering at an organic farm and visit a place where local isn’t a movement but a way of life.
Bring your girlfriends, your partner, your parents, your kids or your pooch – The County has something for everyone, tall and small. Prince Edward County is an island in Lake Ontario where you go to fall in love with food, nature, art and community all over again.
We’re a cluster of small hamlets and villages with deep roots in farming and agriculture, industry and trade through our waterways, and unique natural and geological formations between our 800km of shoreline. You may have just found us but we’ve been welcoming visitors to our beaches for almost 200 years.
Today ‘The County’ is home to artists, entrepreneurs, farmers, wine makers, chefs and all sorts of creative and passionate folks looking to be a part of the rural renaissance taking place here. We have a reputation for capturing hearts and imaginations so you may find yourself visiting for the weekend but considering staying for a lifetime.
