We want to be upfront about the status of Lake Lure. In October of 2024, Hurricane Helene left an unprecedented amount of debris, and while cleanup efforts are underway with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the lake has remained closed and will continue to be closed for the rest of 2025. However, we’re pleased to share that the town of Lake Lure has announced its official target date to fully reopen the lake for the 2026 summer season: May 1, 2026. While this timeline isn’t guaranteed, we remain optimistic that this goal will be achieved through ongoing restoration efforts. In the meantime, the magic of Lake Lure extends far beyond the water—breathtaking mountain views, charming local restaurants, award-winning vineyards, scenic hiking trails, championship golf courses at Rumbling Bald, and the world-class Tryon Equestrian Center just 25 minutes away are all ready to welcome you. Welcome to Paws Awhile! As the name indicates, you can bring your four-legged friend (fees apply) to this perfectly appointed log home in Lake Lure for your mountain getaway! Located in the Sunset Reserve community, you are just 10 minutes to downtown Lake Lure with all the restaurants, wineries, breweries, and shops! The cabin is also just an hour from Asheville! You will immediately feel at home as you enter the cabin, featuring vaulted ceilings and an abundance of natural light. The open floor plan includes the living room, dining room and flows into the fully equipped kitchen, with plenty of space to gather around the island. Check out the spacious deck off the dining space, you’ll find a gas grill and seating to enjoy the mountain air. Choose from 3 comfortable, well furnished guest rooms. Two are on the main level, one with a queen, the other with a double bed and access to the deck. The primary bedroom with an ensuite bathroom, is upstairs and includes a large screen tv, lounge chairs and a workspace. Home Truths: ​​​​​​​- Sleeps in beds: 6 - Max Occupancy: 8 - Pull out full sized sofa in living room - Property Manager provides linens for all beds; other occupancy will require guests providing their own linens - Internet Speed: Download - 300Mbps - Lake Lure will be undergoing a drawdown starting January 1st, 2024 through the first quarter of 2024(March 31st). The lake will begin to be lowered by approximately 1 foot per day until 12 feet has been reached. Infrastructure maintenance, dredging, and dam projects will be expedited during this time frame. These efforts by the Town of Lake Lure may affect access to the lake and restrict any lake usage. The lake will likely be back up to normal levels by mid to late April. While we understand this is an inconvenience, this does allow you to enjoy the full beauty of Lake Lure in the fall and holiday season. - 2 night minimum throughout the year and a 3 night minimum is required for all holidays - Cleaning fee: $205 Property Manager openly shares & clearly posts our Cleaning Fees in a manner of full disclosure, as we think this is the most honest and forthright approach with respect to our guests. Quiet Policy: Please note that the home/estate property is located in a very private and quiet gated community. Parties, loud noise and unruly behavior are absolutely prohibited, and guests are expected to respect the neighbors and the peace this mountain retreat area affords. Reservations made within 7 days of check-in require additional documentation before confirmation. Pets: This home and property are very dog friendly, and guests are welcome to bring their "best friends" with them. There is a non-refundable Pet Fee of $130 with a limit of 2 dogs per booking party. Early Check In and/or Late Check Out may be possible, depending on cleaning schedules and other reservations. If it is possible, there may be an additional fee that would be determined based on the time that you wish to check in or out and the seasonal rates. Please inquire for details regarding payment, the cancellation policy, military discounts, and trip insurance. ​​​​​​​ Note: Reservations over 30 days are subject for review prior to acceptance. A separate rental agreement will be required for 90+ day stays. Last Minute Bookings: Reservations made within 7 days of check-in require additional verification, including selfie/photo of government-issued ID matching the reservation name, and photo of payment method in the primary guest’s name.
