We want to be upfront about the status of Lake Lure. In October of 2024, Hurricane Helene left an unprecedented amount of debris, and while cleanup efforts are underway with the US Army Corps of Engineers, the lake has remained closed and will continue to be closed for the rest of 2025.
However, we’re pleased to share that the town of Lake Lure has announced its official target date to fully reopen the lake for the 2026 summer season: May 1, 2026. While this timeline isn’t guaranteed, we remain optimistic that this goal will be achieved through ongoing restoration efforts.
In the meantime, the magic of Lake Lure extends far beyond the water—breathtaking mountain views, charming local restaurants, award-winning vineyards, scenic hiking trails, championship golf courses at Rumbling Bald, and the world-class Tryon Equestrian Center just 25 minutes away are all ready to welcome you.
As you arrive to this charming lake house, Hickory Hideaway, you will immediately notice the view of Lake Lure and quickly begin to unwind! Lake Lure is special and the views from this house are exceptional.
Upon entering the house, you will be taken away by the high-pitched ceilings and exposed beams. To your left is the newly renovated half bath and fully equipped kitchen to gather and prepare your meals. The dining room table seats six comfortably and looks out over the lake as does the living room. The living room is very cozy with its gas fireplace and flat screen TV. Step outside from the living room/dining room to a beautiful new deck with outdoor dining and gas grill. Take the stairs up to the open loft with its queen size bed and fabulous view of the lake. There are two bedrooms on the terrace level, including a master suite with a queen bed and private bathroom. The second bedroom has one twin bed and a double bed.
You may access a small deck from each of these rooms with beautiful lake views and steps leading down to the boathouse. Outside the two bedrooms is a remodeled bathroom and the house is equipped with a washer & dryer.

- Internet Speed: Strong wifi connection throughout all levels/rooms in the house capable for both Wifi 5&6 standards. Connection extends outside down to the boat house deck enabling streaming capabilities or 24/7 work from home options at any location on the property. The connection to the internet has proven to be very stable and reliable.

- 2 night minimum throughout the year and a 3 night minimum is required for all holidays

Reservations made within 7 days of check-in require additional documentation before confirmation.
Quiet Policy: Please note that the home/estate property is located in a very private and quiet community. Parties, loud noise and unruly behavior are absolutely prohibited, and guests are expected to respect the neighbors and the peace this mountain retreat area affords.
Pets: Many of our guests have allergies so we have maintained a pet-free environment so they can enjoy their vacation without the potential of an allergic reaction. If you have a pet we can recommend some alternatives nearby.
Early Check In and/or Late Check Out may be possible, depending on cleaning schedules and other reservations. If it is possible, there may be an additional fee that would be determined based on the time that you wish to check in or out and the seasonal rates. Please inquire for details regarding payment, the cancellation policy, military discounts, and trip insurance.
Note: Reservations over 30 days are subject for review prior to acceptance. A separate rental agreement will be required for 90+ day stays.
Last Minute Bookings: Reservations made within 7 days of check-in require additional verification, including selfie/photo of government-issued ID matching the reservation name, and photo of payment method in the primary guest’s name. Failure to complete verification may result in cancellation.
