This garden-level getaway has all the bells and whistles you expect from premium vacation rentals Savannah GA, but it is all cleverly contained within a convenient space. This one bedroom, one bath garden-level apartment sleeps four with the help of two twin-size inflatable mattresses, which make it ideal for families of four. At Crawford Coastal, you are at the center of the city’s Historic District and all the activities it has to offer. As guests of Savannah vacation homes, you also have exclusive access to our heated swimming pool, open year-round on Tybee Island.
The Accommodations
Crawford Coastal is conveniently located on the ground level of an historic Federalist-style building near Crawford Square. The living quarters are all on one level, there are no stairs to climb indoors. When you step through the front door, shades of grey and light green feel calm and welcoming. The open floorplan creates a sense of expansive space.
Minimalist décor hits just the right note in the living room. A plush couch with soft throw pillows faces the wall-mounted smart TV. Miniature botanical prints provide pops of greenery while simple built-in shelving holds a glassware collection. Storage cupboards act as wainscoting along the length of the room. Overhead, a ceiling fan maintains your comfort level.
Just beyond, the full kitchen offers stainless appliances, including a dishwasher, French door fridge, range oven and microwave. Stylish glass subway tile provides a backsplash while a coffee maker claims pride of place on the generous counter space. Ample cupboards and drawers are filled with cookware, culinary tools, utensils, tableware and glasses. All you need to contribute are your fresh ingredients of choice. An attractive kitchen island provides bar-height seating for four.
Through a set of elegant double doors, the master suite awaits. The crisp blue and white color scheme creates a clean, cozy atmosphere. A king-sized bed invites you to an exceptional night’s sleep, and a smart TV offers entertainment possibilities.
Generous windows, ceiling lights and bedside lamps wash the space with ambient light. Simply adjust it down to ease yourself into sleep mode. Beneath your feet, a soft area rug adds lush comfort while overhead, a ceiling fan regulates the temperature to your liking.
The adjacent bathroom offers an elegant granite-topped vanity and a glass-doored shower. We make sure to lay in a supply of soft towels at all our Savannah vacation rentals, so you’re set throughout your stay.
There’s also a washer and dryer, tucked away in its own compact space. That means you can pack light and then refresh your wardrobe as needed. Additionally, Crawford Coastal provides an ironing board and iron, bed linens and cooking basics. Like all of our vacation rentals Savannah GA, this apartment is move-in ready.
Your Savannah Itinerary
Historic Savannah is just around the corner when you stay at Crawford Coastal. Centrally located as one the district’s 22 squares, Crawford dates to 1841. It is named after William Harris Crawford, who acted as Secretary of the Treasury in the early 19th century.
Crawford Square is small in area compared to other squares, but it is distinctive in a number of ways. It is the only square still bordered with a fence, although all were fenced in the distant past. It boasts a lovely gazebo perfect for picnicking and live music events. It also has a basketball court and a children’s playground. It’s a great destination for a stroll around the neighborhood, a bit of recreation or some relaxing alone time.
On an interesting historical note, Crawford Square was the only integrated place where African Americans were welcome during the South’s Jim Crow era. It also retains a cistern, which hearkens back to firefighting’s early days. All the 22 town squares once had one, but only Crawford’s remains.
Crawford Coastal is a comfortable walk from Colonial Park Cemetery, which has been a city park since the late 1890s. At that point, no new burials had occurred in the cemetery for several decades. For that reason, it does not include any Confederate soldiers, but has around 700 victims of the yellow fever outbreak of the 1820s.
Colonial Park Cemetery is an important stop on several Savannah ghost tours. If you like a good scare, consider signing up. You’ll learn more about the haunted history of the place.
Your accommodation is also within walking distance of other historic sites, making it easy to take a self-guided tour of the neighborhood. Some points of interest for Savannah vacation rentals guests include:
The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
Andrew Lowe House, site of the founding of the Girl Scouts
Sorrel Weed House Museum, another stop on many haunted tours
Juliet Gordon Lowe’s birthplace, the founder of the Girl Scouts
Owens-Thomas House with slave quarters
Davenport House Museum
Webb Military Museum
Crawford Coastal is also convenient to many of the city’s best-loved restaurants. For example, the 17Hundred90 restaurant offers upscale fare at 307 E. President St., just north of Crawford Coastal. Cha Bella, on Broughton St., specializes in farm-to-table dishes. Collins Quarter at 151 Bull St. serves up a popular brunch and dinner menu.

About the area
Savannah, Georgia, is a delightful Southern city that provides a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty. It is renowned for its beautifully preserved antebellum architecture and historic districts, making it a haven for those with an interest in history. The Historic District of the city is one of the largest in the U.S., characterized by cobblestone streets adorned with oak trees draped in moss and magnificent historic residences.
The city's River Street was once the world's bustling hub for cotton exports. Today, it has transformed into a lively waterfront area brimming with shops, galleries, and restaurants situated in former cotton warehouses. Here visitors can take pleasure in breathtaking views of the Savannah River while indulging in local cuisine or shopping for distinctive souvenirs.
The cultural offerings of Savannah are equally captivating. The Telfair Museums comprise three separate sites: the Telfair Academy of Arts and Sciences - one of the first public museums in the South; Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters; and Jepson Center - a contemporary art center. Collectively they provide an enriching journey through art and history.
For those who love nature, Savannah's beautiful parks and squares will not disappoint. Forsyth Park is particularly popular due to its iconic fountain while Bonaventure Cemetery offers a hauntingly beautiful landscape filled with sculptures and Victorian funerary art.
Savannah also provides several beach options for visitors to enjoy. Tybee Island is just a short drive from downtown Savannah offering sandy beaches ideal for sunbathing or swimming along with a historic lighthouse that offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
For food enthusiasts, exploring Savannah's culinary scene will be an adventure as it includes everything from traditional Southern dishes to fresh seafood to innovative farm-to-table dining experiences.
In summary, Savannah presents an engaging combination of historical allure, cultural richness, natural beauty and culinary delights making it an attractive destination for all kinds of travelers.
