Located just 50 minutes from Asheville in Nebo, this posh lakeside home is the perfect place to get away and enjoy everything the Lake James area has to offer. Ideally located near Lake James State Park, you can spend your days exploring nearby hiking trails like the Fonta Flora Loop, Overmountain Victory, or the Holly Discovery (complete with child-friendly activities). If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, you can visit another state park nearby, South Mountains, for a more challenging hike like Chestnut Knob or a beautiful waterfall hike like High Shoal Falls before grabbing a refreshing craft beer at Fonta Flora’s open-air brewery at Whippoorwill Farm a mere 12 minutes from the home. Also located in Nebo is the award-winning South Creek Winery which welcomes pets and hosts numerous events throughout the year. Take a scenic 15-minute drive to reach the quaint small town of Marion where you can grab another cold one at Mica Town Brewing Company, fresh seafood & cocktails at Crabby Abby’s Bar and Grille, or a handcrafted dish paired with the NC staple, Cheerwine, at McDowell Local. Before returning to your home away from home, shop around at the Lake James Antique Mall, or take another 35-minute drive to the “Simply Charming” town of Morganton where you can find even more shops, regional museums, and art galleries where you can pick up a souvenir to remind you of your time in the mountains. You’ll also find even more delicious dining and drink options in Morganton like Root and Vine, Treat, Catawba Brewing Company, and the original Fonta Flora taproom. Please note: This home has 10 exterior security cameras surrounding the property, one of which faces the hot tub and one of which is in the garage. This home is pet-friendly, but only dogs over 2 years old will be accepted. There is a maximum of 2 dogs, and no "visiting" dogs are permitted. This home is NOT recommended for people with pet allergies. The black recliner pictured in the main living area is no longer at the home. While the home offers gorgeous lake views, it is technically not "lakefront," as it’s situated on a large hill that is across the road from the public Black Bear Boat Ramp & lake access point (6114 Lake James Rd). The home also does NOT have its own private boat dock, but you are welcome to rent a boat through Bear Creek Marina (1.1 miles away) or Lake James Neighborhood Store (8.1 miles away) during your stay.
