Welcome to The Big Skye Lodge in Valle Crucis!
This unique luxury vacation lodge sits atop a private mountaintop with acres of land on all sides. Walk or hike surrounding trails, soak in the hot tub under the stars with a wood fire burning in the outdoor fireplace, or play shuffleboard with the family. Enjoy programming on the five (5) HDTVs in the house, and enjoy the convenience of being centrally located to all the High Country offers.
The main level features hardwood floors, two-story vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings, and custom finishes. A half bathroom/powder room tucked beneath the custom open staircase is accessible at the dramatic entrance. The left wing offers an open-concept great room with comfortable leather furniture and oversized windows centered around the stacked stone gas log fireplace and huge HDTV. The kitchen has custom cabinetry, granite countertops with a leathered granite sink, Viking appliances, a center island with a second stainless sink, and a coffee bar and wine fridge. The open dining area boasts a custom wood-slab dining table that seats eight (8) guests, plus two counter-height bar stools at the dining island, accommodating ten (10) guests.
Directions to The Big Skye Lodge take the guest on a narrow, gravel, state-maintained mountain road in a remote location. The driveway to the house is paved, very steep, with sharp curves, and is about 1/8 mile long. During winter weather, the timing and effectiveness of snow clearing efforts may dictate the renters’ access or egress. There is no guarantee that snow removal efforts will be totally effective. There is a gate at the bottom of the driveway where it is steep, which may require exiting the vehicle and negotiating steep terrain to open. The purpose of the gate is to fence goats, donkeys, and other farm animals at the neighbors. It may be left open for the duration of your reservation.
The right wing offers a main floor master suite with a king bed, soaring vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings, a stacked-stone fireplace with gas logs, an HDTV, and a comfy sofa for private lounging. The ensuite master bathroom entrance is a restored 1800s cabin and offers his and hers vanities and toilets, heated tile floors, heated towel bars, an effervescent soaking tub, and a slate tile shower.
Upstairs features a loft-style den with a shuffleboard table, a large HDTV, comfy theater-style seating, and a table for games and puzzles. On each side of the den are two large bedroom suites, each with two queen beds, wall-mounted HDTVs, full ensuite bathrooms with soaking tubs and custom tile showers, and walk-in closets. Each has a washer and dryer. There is a Juliette deck off the den that looks out at the mountain view.
The dramatic front entrance offers a porte-cochere, covered pull-up parking at the top of a long, winding, paved driveway. Custom stone steps lead to the front door. There is additional level parking on either side of the front entrance. The open-air deck wraps around the entire rear and both sides of the house and boasts outdoor dining, a stainless gas grill, a large stone wood-burning fireplace, Adirondack-style deck furniture, and a hot tub. This house also offers central heating and air conditioning, and WiFi internet.
