Fistral Beach is the town's most famous surf spot, hosting international competitions and offering surf schools for those looking to catch their first wave.
But Newquay isn't just for surfers. The town's beaches, including Towan, Great Western, and Tolcarne, provide ample space for families to enjoy the sun, build sandcastles, and paddle in the shallows. The South West Coast Path runs through Newquay, offering walkers and hikers stunning cliff-top views and the chance to spot local wildlife, such as seals and dolphins.
For those interested in marine life, the Blue Reef Aquarium is a window into the underwater world, showcasing local and exotic marine species. The nearby Newquay Zoo also offers a family-friendly day out, with a variety of animals and educational talks.
Newquay's heritage is tied to the sea, and visitors can delve into the town's history at the local museums or by exploring the old harbor, where traditional Cornish fishing boats still bob in the water. The Huer's Hut, an iconic white-washed building perched on the headland, harks back to the days when it was used to spot shoals of pilchards.
As the sun sets, Newquay's nightlife comes alive with a range of options from cozy pubs serving local ales to vibrant clubs where party-goers can dance the night away. The town also boasts a variety of restaurants, many of which highlight Cornwall's bounty with fresh seafood and locally-sourced ingredients.
