Live an authentic experience of unique spirit and history at this charming renovated loft. Formerly a graphic studio, the old “bottega” was recently converted into a convenient ground floor apartment inside the walls of Lucca with lofted area, now ready to welcome its guests.
Equipped with modern facilities such as wi-fi, microwave and air-conditioning, the apartment is ideal for two people, but can accommodate up to four people with the help of the sofa-bed, and the additional convenience of two separate bathrooms.
Casa Smart is set in a tranquil yet central location in the hearth of the city center. You will find everything just outside your door, with the lively San Michele square at the end of the road and the historical museum of Palazzo Mansi just behind. Plenty of choice for tasting the local cuisine with the highlight of some of the most traditional restaurants a stone’s throw away (we’ll be happy to share our favorite ones!).
Think of narrow pedestrian streets, cozy cafés where to sit for hours enjoying one of the best marocchino coffee, fascinating clock towers representing the prestige of the ancient noble families such as the Guinigi, famous for having a tall oak tree on top. About the area
Lucca, Italy, is a captivating city that embodies the quintessential charm of Tuscany. Enclosed by well-preserved Renaissance walls that have been transformed into a pedestrian promenade, the city invites visitors to step back in time and explore its historical treasures at a leisurely pace.
The heart of Lucca is its old town, a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, picturesque piazzas, and elegant buildings. The Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, a unique elliptical square, is a highlight, built on the ruins of an ancient Roman amphitheater. Visitors can enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the piazza, which is lined with cafes and shops, perfect for sipping a cappuccino and people-watching.
Lucca's rich history is showcased in its numerous churches, the most famous being the San Michele in Foro with its stunning façade and the Lucca Cathedral (Duomo di San Martino), which houses remarkable artworks and the revered Volto Santo di Lucca, a wooden crucifix. The city's religious heritage is further celebrated during the Luminara di Santa Croce festival, where Lucca is illuminated by thousands of candles in a breathtaking display.
For those with a taste for adventure, climbing the Guinigi Tower offers a rewarding experience. The tower is notable for the ancient oak trees growing atop its roof, providing a unique vantage point over the city and the surrounding Tuscan countryside.
Music enthusiasts will find Lucca especially endearing as it is the birthplace of the famous composer Giacomo Puccini. The Puccini Museum, located in his childhood home, is a pilgrimage site for opera lovers, and the city hosts an annual summer festival celebrating his works.
Beyond its historical and cultural offerings, Lucca is also a gateway to the Tuscan landscape, with opportunities for cycling and hiking along the Serchio River or through the nearby hills. The city's culinary scene is equally enticing, featuring traditional Tuscan cuisine, fine wines, and local specialties like Buccellato, a sweet bread that is a Lucca staple.
Lucca's blend of history, culture, and natural beauty, combined with its relaxed atmosphere and friendly locals, makes it a destination that offers a truly authentic Italian experience. Whether you're seeking to immerse yourself in history, enjoy the arts, or simply indulge in the pleasures of Italian life, Lucca is a city that will capture your heart and leave you longing to return.
