Unearth the spirit of Bali in Alibaug. The Ray is an extension of its rich natural surroundings, inviting you to connect with yourself and your loved ones. It’s named after the the Manta Rays that were once found in the Arabian Sea near Alibaug, and the warm sun rays that the east-facing villa receives. Built into two levels, the five bedrooms have their own entrances. Let the birds and a large mosaic manta ray welcome you into the lower level living room. With floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides, the expansive room has a well-manicured garden and the blue sky for walls. Walk further into the pool lounge, which is surrounded by a glistening pool open to the valley.
At The Ray, spaces seamlessly blend into each other. The harmonious balance expands with the use natural materials in the decor: stone walls, sand and tropical foliage. Asian-inspired elements like totem poles for luck, traditional grinders repurposed as pots and art bring the outdoors in. Logs of wood are used as benches; the tables are large pieces of granite and stone, and crystals lamps lend warmth to an evening of conversations. In a poetic gesture, the rocks that were once part of the original mountain have a home in the villa.
The Ray is full of mysteries that will bring your childhood alive. Soak in the stunning infinity pool as the young ones splash about the lower pool with a slide. Feel the crisp grass on your toes, swing away in the lounge area or explore the secret doorways. Feel your worries melt away in the bar, or unwind with a movie or games. Stroll through the property to find picture-perfect corners and plants that have been largely grown in-house. Get cosy with your loved ones in the dining room as our villa team serves a delicious spread. The stunning living room chandeliers are crafted using hand-moulded glass, reflecting the morning sun and shining bright as stars in the night.
Become one with nature at The Ray. Escape the city to come home to thoughtful hospitality and specially crafted experiences. Explore the beaches, quaint markets and local culture of Alibaug.

About the area
Alibag, a coastal town in the Raigad district of Maharashtra, India, is a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, particularly for residents of Mumbai seeking tranquility. Known for its sandy beaches, clean waters, and refreshing greenery, Alibag is a popular weekend getaway that offers a slice of coastal charm.
The town's centerpiece is Alibag Beach, which provides a picturesque view of the Colaba Fort, accessible during low tide. This fort, once a cornerstone of the Maratha Empire, stands as a testament to the region's historical significance and offers a glimpse into India's rich past. Visitors can explore its ruins and enjoy panoramic views of the Arabian Sea.
Another highlight is the Kanakeshwar Forest, a dense woodland area that is home to the Kanakeshwar Devasthan Temple. The temple, perched on a hill, requires a climb of over 500 steps, rewarding visitors with spiritual solace and stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape.
For those interested in the local flora and fauna, the Phansad Wildlife Sanctuary is a must-visit. It's a biodiversity hotspot that houses a variety of species, including leopards, barking deer, and numerous bird species, making it an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers.
Alibag is also known for its agricultural produce, particularly coconuts and betel nuts, and the region's cuisine reflects this. Seafood lovers will relish the opportunity to sample fresh fish, prawns, and crabs, often prepared in traditional Konkani and Malvani styles.
The town's laid-back atmosphere is complemented by its cultural scene, with local festivals and markets offering a taste of the regional lifestyle. Visitors can browse through the local markets for handcrafted goods, such as Kolhapuri chappals (leather sandals), and other artisanal items.
For a more secluded experience, the nearby beaches of Nagaon, Kihim, and Varsoli provide quieter alternatives to Alibag Beach, with opportunities for water sports and sunbathing. These spots are perfect for those looking to unwind and enjoy the coastal serenity.
In essence, Alibag is a destination that offers a blend of history, nature, and culture, all set against the backdrop of the beautiful Arabian Sea. It's a place where travelers can relax on sandy shores, explore historical forts, indulge in local cuisine, and immerse themselves in the tranquility of coastal life.
