Welcome to the neighbourhood where the Louvre Museum is located!! A maze of shops, art galleries and restaurants, the Louvre is the biggest museum in the world and is a true sight to behold, not just for the masterpieces it holds but for its ornate and unusual exterior. Soak up yet more famed artwork across the river at the Musée d'Orsay – particularly good when there's a long line at the Louvre – or see world-class photography at the Jeu de Paume. This small, easily-walkable area also contains the gorgeous Jardins des Tulieries, the Palais Royal, the Pont des Arts bridge, which has recently been stripped of its love locks, and plenty of upscale shops and restaurants. You can also find the Tuilleries garden, the Palais-Royal (originally called the Palais-Cardinal), is a former royal palace located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, France. The screened entrance court faces the Place du Palais-Royal, opposite the Louvre. The larger inner courtyard of the Palais Royal, the Cour d'Honneur, has since 1986 contained Daniel Buren's site-specific art piece Les Deux Plateaux, known as Les Colonnes de Buren. In 1830 the Cour d'Honneur was enclosed to the north by what was probably the most famous of Paris's covered arcades, the Galerie d'Orléans. The glass cover was demolished in the 1930s, becoming an open courtyard between the Cour d'Honneur and the popular Palais-Royal Gardens.
