Dimora degli Affreschi… An entire Florentine palazzo transformed
DONNA LIPSI
Our Florence palazzo restoration has finally reached fruition near the banks of the Arno in the thriving district of Santa Croce
Promising a truly pampering Florentine experience and spanning the entire 5 storeys of the handsome 19th-century Palazzo Fossi beside the art-filled Horne Museum on the ancient Via dei Benci, this massively ambitious project is now opening its doors to its 10 seriously sumptuous Dimora Italia Collection apartments.
Sensitively reconfigured over a 3-year period by a highly skilled team of experts with a deep understanding and appreciation of the palazzo’s historic fabric, the apartments all follow a contemporary Florentine aesthetic and are primed to become our flagship properties within the top-tier rentals market.
A treasury of exceptional city-centre bases radiating positive energy and collectively named Dimora degli Affreschi (Residence of the Frescoes), its accommodation ranges from a spectacular 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment showcasing towering ceilings cloaked in a vivid expanse of classical frescoes, through to a stylishly attired 3 bedroom / 4 bathroom duplex with roof timbers and a pair of terraces peacefully situated to the rear, while the entirely bespoke interiors have been curated by ArchFlorence, the brilliantly gifted architectural designers we’ve partnered over the past 10+ years.
Centrally located within a stone’s throw of the Uffizi Gallery and conveniently close to – yet not overwhelmed by – an array of small shops, cafes and restaurants, Dimora degli Affreschi can host up to 56 guests when reserved for exclusive use, while all pristine spaces within have been meticulously prepared for your pleasure.
Boasting top-notch comforts and all the hallmarks of Dimora Italia Collection’s styling including air-conditioning, Wi-Fi connection, custom-made fixtures and delicious decor, the apartments are individually named in honour of the owners’ adored offspring and include the fabulous duplex:
DONNA LIPSI (SLEEPS 6)
3rd and 4th Floor – 3 bedrooms / 4 bathrooms
Reached via a few steps up from the main palazzo entrance with stairs and / or lift to the
3rd Floor, followed by internal stairs to the 4th Floor, this peaceful and spacious duplex apartment with terraces comprises:
An entrance hallway leading into…
A quietly elegant main sitting / dining room immaculately dressed in neutrals and silver blue and furnished with a luxurious (and very large!) L-shaped sofa for leisurely lounging after a busy day about town, a circular glass-topped dining suite hosting 6 guests and featuring a compact yet well-equipped and semi-separate kitchen to the side, perfect for the cooking enthusiasts in your party (be sure to visit the nearby Sant’ Ambrogio fresh food market – open 7am - 2pm every day except Sunday!)
An inner hallway with glazed door opening onto a balcony terrace overlooking a sleepy internal courtyard and surrounding terracotta rooftops
A pristine and very pretty guest bathroom in Taplab’s Yoshino wallcovering (with wash-hand basin and w.c.)
A truly charming principal bedroom in coordinated shades of blue with a canopied double bed, a walk-in closet to the rear and a smart en suite bathroom in polished blue marmorino with marble shower
Internal wood and original stone stairs rise from the entrance hallway to the 4th Floor (the very top of the palazzo) where we find to our delight…
A further 2 gorgeous double bedrooms, both enjoying access onto a fabulous shared furnished terrace offering far-reaching views across the city roofscape towards the cypress-studded hills forming the skyline east of Florence…
One in gentle taupes with a beautifully upholstered double bed and a large and luxurious en suite bathroom with marble shower, bathtub and handy washing machine / dryer, the other in soft blue-greys with a double bed (which can be made into twins at your request) and an equally opulent en suite bathroom with sparkling tiled shower
On the ground floor there is a gym area with a mirrored wall, available to our guests, with two stationary bikes (one classic and one elliptical), weights and mats.

About the area
Florence, Italy, is a city that resonates with the soul of the Renaissance, a treasure trove of art and architecture that has left an indelible mark on the world's cultural heritage. This enchanting city, nestled in the heart of Tuscany, is a magnet for art lovers, history enthusiasts, and those seeking the quintessential Italian experience.
The city's historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a testament to its illustrious past. The iconic Duomo, with its red-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and the adjacent Giotto's Campanile, stands as a symbol of Florence's architectural prowess. The nearby Baptistery, with its famous bronze doors by Ghiberti, completes this remarkable ensemble.
Art aficionados will find their paradise within the walls of the Uffizi Gallery, home to an unparalleled collection of Italian Renaissance art, including masterpieces by Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci. The Accademia Gallery, where Michelangelo's David stands in all its glory, is another pilgrimage site for those seeking artistic enlightenment.
Florence is not just about the grandeur of its past; it's a living city with a vibrant street life and bustling markets. The Mercato Centrale offers a feast for the senses, with stalls brimming with local produce, cheeses, meats, and artisanal goods. The surrounding streets are lined with boutiques, leather shops, and jewelers, making Florence a shopper's delight.
The city's culinary scene is equally impressive, with traditional trattorias serving Tuscan classics like ribollita and bistecca alla fiorentina. The local Chianti wine is the perfect accompaniment to any meal, embodying the rich flavors of the region's rolling vineyards.
For a respite from the urban energy, the Boboli Gardens provide a serene escape with their beautifully landscaped grounds, fountains, and sculptures. The panoramic views of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo are simply breathtaking, especially at sunset when the city is bathed in a golden glow.
Florence's compact size makes it ideal for exploration on foot, with surprises waiting around every corner. From the Ponte Vecchio, a medieval stone bridge lined with jewelry shops, to the lesser-known but equally captivating churches and squares, Florence is a city that rewards the curious traveler.
In essence, Florence is a city where the past and present coexist in harmonious splendor, offering a rich tapestry of experiences that continue to enchant and inspire visitors from around the globe.
