Come see this charming two-bedroom cabin, with one-and-a-half bathrooms, that has a rich history in Brown County! Charley’s Cabin is the perfect retreat for those seeking relaxation by the stars. You’ll create unforgettable memories here that will add to the cabin’s legacy. Only a short drive away are the Brown County State Park and the delightful shops and restaurants of Nashville. Charley’s Cabin was built on the site of Alfred Oaldon’s old blacksmith shop by Charlie Fox between 1987 and 1990. To replicate his childhood home in Brown County, Charlie used logs he cut himself on an old sawmill he owned as a young man. During WWII, he served in the United States Navy in Guam as a Seabee, where he honed his valuable building skills in constructing airstrips. While we provide routine professional pest control and keep our homes clean and well-maintained, guests may occasionally see seasonal pests such as mice, flies, lady beetles (Asian beetles), or stink bugs — especially in the fall and spring. These harmless insects are part of life in a rural setting. We do everything possible to minimize their presence and appreciate your understanding as part of the authentic Brown County experience! PET-FRIENDLY PROPERTY: There is a $75 fee per pet. Moondance Vacation Homes proudly donates a portion to the Brown County Humane Society when you bring your pet and pay your pet fee. ALL EVENTS, DAY GUESTS, AND PARTIES ARE PROHIBITED WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM PROPERTY MANAGEMENT. Effective July 1, 2025 the county has raised the innkeepers tax from 5% to 8%.

Whether you prefer to sit by the fire pit or you like to soak in the beautifully lit hot tub at night, Charley’s Cabin provides an oasis away from everyday life. You’ll continue to add to this cabin’s history with the memories you make here! The Brown County State Park and Nashville’s quaint shops and restaurants are just a few minutes away.
Located on the old Alfred Oaldon’s Blacksmith Shop site, this cabin was built by Charlie Fox from 1987 to 1990. In order to replicate the cabin he grew up in as a child in Brown County, he cut the logs himself on an old sawmill he owned and ran when he was a young man. He gained a lot of valuable skills while serving his country during WWII and building airstrips as a Seabee in the United States Navy in Guam.
