In the coastal village of Trsteno, the grand Villa Palaca is a special property with a location to match. Surrounded by laurel and cypress trees, the villa is situated close to the Trsteno Arboretum – familiar to ‘Game of Thrones’ fans as the King’s Landing gardens. This spacious villa can accommodate up to 12 guests in considerable style and features a huge outdoor pool.
This exquisite villa enjoys a location on the Croatian coast that puts it within easy reach of Dubrovnik – it lies around 20 minutes’ drive from the Old Town and 40 minutes from Dubrovnik Airport. In large, verdant gardens, Villa Palaca offers a centrepiece swimming pool of 11m x 5m, a barbecue and outdoor lounge and dining areas. Its terraces also enjoy some truly delightful sea views and provide spaces ideal for hosting evening meals.
The interior has been laid out around large central spaces and has been inspired by surrounding Renaissance estates. Large French windows, chandeliers and colourful Croatian paintings add to a sense of opulence. At the centre of the ground floor is the grand dining room with seating for 12. Also on this level are three double bedrooms, one with its own bathroom and two which share a bathroom. The kitchen with large, central island, is also on this floor.
On the upper floor, the living room has a TV, Fendi couches and a fireplace lined with onyx marble. A spacious covered balcony extends from this room. A master bedroom sits to each side of the central lounge, with a king-size bed, bathroom, balcony and walk-in wardrobe. An annexe to the side of the house provides another bedroom, which can be used as a twin or double, and a bathroom.
With a concierge service, this villa offers all the assistance you may require. You can reach Dubrovnik Old Town either by car or by boat, while excursions to areas such as Korčula island or the wine country of Pelješac can also be arranged.

Location:
A hub for tourism, prosperous Dubrovnik has it all. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s historically significant, filled with palaces, churches and other notable buildings around the Old Town – the walls of which offer a 2km walk.
A less strenuous way to see the city is by the cable cars which ascend from the town up Mt Srd. The journey only takes four minutes, but it’s a scenic one with impressive views when you reach the viewing platforms at the top. Boat trips along the coast are also an option.
Dubrovnik hosts many cultural events with classical concerts often held in its palaces. In July and August, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival brings live entertainment to the streets, and in February there’s a Venetian-style carnival. For the evenings, you’ll find bars and a few clubs, with most musical styles covered, on and around Stradun.
Walking tours of the city are a good way to discover Dubrovnik’s past, and some of its more recent history is covered at The Museum of the Croatian War of Independence. This museum is a notable one, and depicts the damage the city suffered in the early 1990s. The restoration which has taken place since is impressive.
Head up the coast, past quiet bays like Zaton and Orašac, and you’ll find the Trsteno Arboretum, now famous from appearances in ‘Game of Thrones’. Not far from here is Brsečine, once the home of Cvijeta Zuzorić, a great Croatian poetess and early feminist.
