Location:
This wonderful Villa Ammos is located on a long sandy beach on the south east of the island between the charming town of Lefkimmi and the bustling, vibrant resort of Kavos. You really have the best of both worlds with the tranquil calm in this lovely olive grove with its private beach yet you are close enough to have a wild night out!
Lefkimmi is the second largest town on Corfu after Kerkyra. It is built amongst the olive groves and vineyards of the area. The harbour offers daily ferries to Igoumenitsa on the mainland and trips to Paxos and Antipaxos and around the island. Lefkimmi is good for supermarkets as well as having a delightful selection of bars and restaurants.
If you want to head for an organised, busy beach then you should head for the 8km of sands at Kavos. With high-speed water sports, a huge range of inflatables, bungee jumping, beach bars and restaurants, the beach has it all. Kavos is very bubbly and is the island’s party capital. Other popular beaches are Agios Georgios South Beach and Halikounas Beach where you can try out some kite surfing.
Corfu Town, or Kerkyra as it is otherwise known, is one of the most beautiful and elegant towns in Greece. Though 7th in size, it is one of the most populated in the whole of the Ionian Islands. The beautiful architecture has many strong influences including Sicilian, Venetian, French and English and the town is brimming with elegant mansions, magnificent palaces, beautiful squares and majestic fortresses. The entire old city is declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Corfu Town’s unique charm, sophistication, character and atmosphere should not be missed!
Overall the island of Corfu has over 120 beaches, a few hundred villages, nearly a thousand churches, a significant mountain range, valleys, waterfalls and forests as well as more than 3 million olive trees, three lagoons and numerous caves. The fauna and flora is world-famous due to the Durrell family and especially since the TV series. There is much to see on Corfu!
