Home details
Torre Perugina is like an enchanting vision out of the pages of a fairy tale: a medieval tower at the end of a charming, winding, flower-lined drive in the rural hills of Umbria.
This mystical, castle-like home sits perched on a hilltop overlooking the sweeping valley and imperial Monte Luco (home to a thirteenth-century convent where Saint Francis of Assisi lived for a time).
Set in the ultimate secluded haven of tranquillity, within twelve acres of parkland, surrounded by olive groves and fragrant lavender bushes, Torre Perugina can accommodate twelve guests across six bedrooms. This home is a rural idyll, with all the best elements of rustic Italian living, set within an immaculately executed, luxurious holiday home.
Like escaping to another world, Torre Perugina offers an oasis of natural charm and restoration; the outside spaces are sublime. Both well maintained, yet charmingly natural, the gardens are a riot of blossoming plants, rose gardens, fragrant fruit trees and far-reaching hilltop views. The pièce de resistance is the stunning roof-top panoramic sun deck at the top of the tower.
The pool is framed by glittering ivory toned stone, with ample space for lounging: sitting back with a good holiday read and a cold beer. Beside the pool, the pergola provides a romantic spot to enjoy breakfast after a refreshing morning swim, or a wonderful dinner beneath the stars.
There is a striking simplicity to this home; the natural surroundings speak for themselves - and the wonderfully manicured grounds are dazzling in their serene, colourful beauty.
The interiors are sleek and simple, offering an understated, neutral and fresh backdrop to enjoy time as a family or group. The living room is elegant; a refined yet cosy space with comfortable seating, a muted palette with splashes of bright red and orange, and original terracotta tiled flooring.
Characteristic light floods in at every angle, solid wood antique furnishings and artwork provide an abundance of character. Torre Perugina is very much a “home” rather than a “rental” - the fireplace, bookshelves laden with holiday reads and stacks of cosy cushions make this a snug evening retreat.
Laden with rustic charm, the dining room is striking in its pretty simple, while none of the modern conveniences has been overlooked in this home: television with DVD, WiFi, coffee machine and all the expected appliances.
Each bedroom has its touches of personality; wrought iron decorative bed heads, framed artwork reminiscent of the region’s cultural heritage and wooden shutters make this every inch the authentic Italian fairy tale tower! No detail is left forgotten; pretty, ambient lighting make these bedrooms the tranquil spaces they are designed to be, along with beautiful cotton linens and solid timber furnishings.
Torre Perugina is a uniquely captivating home, offering glorious views, a taste of authentic Umbria, with helpful hosts and every comfort imaginable. This unforgettable place that somehow time and the modern world forgot is ideal for special occasions such as family celebrations or anniversaries, or simply an opportunity to holiday “far from the madding crowd” with a touch of medieval flavour in ones very own castle!

Spoleto boasts a colourful and intriguing history as well as artistic heritage dating back to Roman times; the town itself offers authentically Umbrian winding streets, artisan cafes, crafts-based shopping, as well as the castle and many churches which are centuries old. Spoleto is known today for its annual summer Festival Dei Due Mondi, a showcase to the region’s music, dance, opera and theatre.
History lovers will be spoilt - from the first-century Roman amphitheatre to the twelfth-century Duomo, to the fourteenth-century hilltop fortress, Rocca Albornoziana, the glut of remnants from the medieval and Bronze Age past is impressive.
There are bikes for guests’ use at the villa; the surrounding woods and mountains offer an abundance of opportunity for hiking, trekking and exploring the natural wonders of this region, including Saint Francis of Assisi’s retreat paths.
Within just half an hour of Spoleto, there is an array of interesting towns to visit, including Bevagna, Trevi and Montefalco, while within only one hour Assisi and many other interesting Umbrian towns can be reached.
