Home details
Please note there is heavy building work going on around the property.
With a unique layout that is perfect for a multi-generational holiday or large group trip to Portugal, Silica House is distinct and inviting, showcasing the best of the Comporta area.
The property is split across three buildings, including the main villa that acts as the hub of Silica House, and a further two villas with immaculate bedrooms and cute chill-out zones. Silica House has a total of five bedrooms, sleeping up to ten guests.
In the main living space, a bright and tastefully decorated kitchen/dining area seats all ten guests. All of the rooms have been designed with calming intentions, evoking a sense of serenity in this lesser-known holiday area in Portugal. Crisp, light-coloured furniture is complemented with splashes of colour from the soft furnishings. A mix of textures blends together natural elements, including wood, stone and wicker.
The main centrepiece of Silica House is the inviting pool and outside lounge area, where all three villas look out onto. Kids and adults alike will love cooling off in the water, relaxing under the trees or basking in the sun. There’s comfy seating dotted throughout the pool terrace - spend days enjoying the warm Portuguese weather with your loved ones, with plenty of outdoor space for the little ones to run freely around.
When it is finally time to rest your head, guests can choose from five beautiful bedrooms, some with ensuites. One bedroom is in the main villa, with four more divided evenly across the other two villas. This added element of privacy makes Silica House a fantastic choice for families who need that little extra space - perhaps if holidaying with grandparents or older kids. It’s also a fabulous option for couples or large groups travelling together.
The bedrooms are uniquely decorated, echoing the homely feel of the rest of the villa. Some of the rooms also enjoy exposed beams - a rustic touch in this distinctly welcoming home.
Experience vistas across the surrounding grounds from throughout Silica House with a number of private terraces, where you’ll also be just a stone’s throw away (seven minutes walk, to be exact!) from a picture-perfect, Portuguese beach.

Location:
Despite being just a 1 hour and 15-minute drive from the capital of Lisbon, Comporta is a hidden gem in the Alentejo region that combines the lure of the coast with countryside living. While many simply embark on a road trip to the village when staying in Lisbon or one of the nearby resort towns, over the years, Comporta has grown in popularity with holidaymakers looking to stay exclusively in the area. The village invites visitors to step away from the bustle of city life, and embrace a more relaxed atmosphere.
This secret paradise has gained attention from celebrities, seeking an uninterrupted escape and peaceful holiday. Comporta is uniquely located between rice paddies and the Atlantic Ocean. The white-sand beaches and fishing cabins are iconic to this area of Portugal, prompting a slow and tranquil pace of life.
Make no mistake though - despite the absence of hoards of tourists and thumping nightclubs, there is still so much to see and do in Comporta and the surrounding area.
The epic waves make surfing by the vast beaches a popular activity, while restaurants and cafes offer an authentic taste of Portuguese cuisine. Foodies won’t want to leave without sampling the black pig meat, an Alentejo speciality that is used in many of the local dishes.
The land is also rich in wine and olive production thanks to the nearby Alqueva dam. Spend some time visiting the numerous vineyards surrounding Comporta, and pick up a souvenir or two.
Of course, the rice paddies neighbouring Comporta make the grain a local delicacy. When paired with fresh seafood plucked from the Atlantic coast, you have a range of mouthwatering meals to try.
Continue to look to the seas and you may even catch sight of dolphins, creatures well-known for gracing the area with their elegant beauty. Explore the Sado estuary in a catamaran for a greater chance of spotting them, alongside other marine life.
You can also explore the pine forests or do a spot of shopping in the local boutiques in the village, with many products made from Comporta’s famed cork oak.
Beyond Comporta, the capital city of Lisbon is easily reachable via car or train and a highly recommended day trip. Just 20 minutes drive south of Comporta is the charming town of Melides, home to picturesque blue-painted houses, a covered market, and the breathtaking Melides Lagoon. Neighbouring Comporta, and again just a 10-15 minute drive, is Troia, an area that boasts one of the best golf courses in Europe and a marina that is perfect for windsurfing and sailing.
