It offers a peaceful base just a short drive from Régua - the historic hub of the world’s oldest demarcated wine region. Wine tastings and vineyard visits are a highlight here, particularly for those keen to explore the region’s legacy of port production. Nearby miradouros, such as São Leonardo de Galafura, offer sweeping views after scenic hikes. For a slower pace, board the Douro Historical Train for a heritage steam journey through the valley, running June to October. The easily accessible towns of Vila Real and Lamego add cultural depth, with baroque mansions, Gothic cathedrals, and even sparkling wine cellars to discover.
