There is also a grandiose manor house called Can Llobera, which was owned by one of the town’s most prominent families. Placa Vella also hosts a wide selection of community events, such as Pi de Sant Antonio, a fun activity that encourages the younger generations to climb a pine tree that has been covered with slippery soap. This quaint town is also home to Placa de l’Almonia, a small square that has collected a large amount of history throughout the years. This area is home to a large house that was used to care for and serve some of Pollensa’s poorest citizens during the 15th century. Furthermore, Placa de l’Almonia was also used as a battleground back in 1550, when the citizens had to protect their town from vicious ambushers. Modern-day citizens now hold a memorial ceremony for those who lost their lives during this conflict on the 2nd of August every year.
