Maida Vale is a London neighbourhood that delivers on style — see smart Victorian terraces, attractive leafy streets, and the picture-perfect waterway of Little Venice; as well as substance — with a host of waterside pubs, chic restaurants, and hip gig venues. So it seems fitting that this delightful four-bedroom home is an all-rounder. Nestled on a quiet residential street, it blends classic terrace-house style with comfy, homely substance. Not only will you find slick design and uplifted interiors, but also all the little luxuries you’d want in a tranquil city retreat. Our favourite is the well-furnished patio, but you can make up your own mind...
We love open-plan design when it maximises light and space, and this home is a shining example. An impressive bay window bathes the living room in light, whilst glass doors onto the patio create a bright and airy dining room behind. Fresh interiors, ambient lighting, and soft tones instantly put you at ease, whether you’re cosied up on the chunky sofas watching a surround-sound film on the projector, or enjoying a family meal overlooking the garden. If it’s a balmy summer evening though, you can’t do better than the garden itself. A roomy, modern kitchen gives access onto a handy outdoor dining spot. So, fire up the BBQ, it’s time to go alfresco. Up a few steps behind you’ll find the main affair — a charming terraced patio, complete with inviting corner sofa and pleasantly screened by leaf-clad walls and verdant flower beds. The four bedrooms keep to theme, with large windows, ample space, and soothing, neutral palettes. We’ll say it again, style and substance go hand in hand here.
We love...
The bedrooms supply something for everyone, whether it’s the cushy reading area in the principal room where parents can snatch a moment of quiet, or the adorable touches and fun blackboard walls in the children’s rooms. We’re also big fans of the main bathroom. Relaxing in a vintage tub whilst admiring atmospheric art and charming period features sounds good to us!
Home truths:
No smoking, pets, or parties! A ginger cat called Phoenix (appropriately) lives here and will be around during stays. He’s very friendly and used to children. A neighbour will be on hand to feed him morning and evening, but you’re more than welcome to have a go yourself and we can provide instructions. This home is therefore not suitable for those with allergies. It’s set over three floors with a few steps up to the patio. If you have a car you might want to use the pay-and-display parking available across the street.
