Chalet Schlössli

Perfectly placed, above the village of Wengen, facing the rising and setting sun as it journeys from day to night, Chalet Schlössli is perfect for couples wanting to go off the radar into their own small paradisiacal land. Tranquility and romance unfold at this charming farmhouse, set in acres of Outstanding Natural Beauty and yet affording a slice of country living on modern terms. This 100-year old simple farmhouse has been reinterpreted; the old hayloft is now the main bedroom with feature window. As well as an open log fire, a contemporary red, yet old style radiator warms the living room. And in the former dining and living room there are now two bright guest rooms. Both inside and out, the chalet is stylishly preserved to the last detail, conferring a sense for the beautiful and the old. Decorative objects from a past life ornament the chalet, such as a “taburettli”, which is said to have once served as a bedside table. Even the kitchen wall is adorned with collectibles from here and there: Gugelhopf molds in all sizes - bought at market, found in the basement, fetched from relatives. And as if by magic, all these objects come to life and bring a colourful, antique, beautiful, homely ambience to the wooden house. And it doesn’t stop there. If you’ve relaxation in mind, then you’ll lose many an hour just ‘being’ on the terrace at Chalet Schlössli. This unique self-catering farmhouse flanked by fields of wildflowers flaunts panoramic views of the Lauterbrunnen valley and surrounding mountains, creating an enchanting destination for holidays in the mountains. The delightful terrace wraps around the South and West sides of the house. Opt for a leisurely breakfast spread of fresh croissants and fruits at the generously sized outdoor dining table. After exploring the many hiking paths starting right from the doorstep, recline on the terrace with a glass of something chilled or a good book, soak in the once-in-a-lifetime views and raise a toast to your magical break away from it all. As evening falls and the burning sunset fades, chatter away beside the fire pit before retiring to the house. The chalet has three levels. Two guest rooms (one of which is available when booking for 3 or 4 guests), the shower room with washing machine and dryer, and the garden room are situated on the ground floor. An external staircase leads you up to the main entrance to the house. On this first floor you will find the kitchen, dining room, living room, and bathroom with bathtub. An internal staircase leads up to the second floor where the master bedroom is located. Adjacent to the master bedroom is also a separate toilet. Practicalities and Location The chalet is situated above the car-limited village of Wengen and a 1.5 kilometer walk from the Wengen train station. Wengen is only accessible by train. Those arriving by car can reserve and pay for parking in Lauterbrunnen separately. Once you arrive in Wengen by train, our private shuttle service will take you and your luggage up to Chalet Schlössli. Please note that at various times in Winter, due to snow, it may not be possible for our shuttle to drive all the way to the property. In this case the last 450 meters would need to be navigated on foot. This chalet is a very unique and precious property. We are only able to accept adult guests (aged 18 and over) at this property. The reclining chairs, deckchairs and outdoor throws and cushions are not weather proof and need to be put away each evening. For safety reasons and to ensure the grass is not damaged, the fire pit is supplied with a fire blanket and can only be used on the terrace.
