This beautiful cabin above the New River and just north of Boone is a peaceful and charming getaway. The cabin has hardwood floors throughout and little touches to help you relax and retreat during your stay. The cabin has a beautiful kitchen with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and bar seats. There is a dining room table next to the kitchen with room for six. The living room features a comfortable couch and loveseat and a wood-burning fireplace. Just off the living room, you can access the upper deck, which has a bistro table and two chairs to overlook the valley, a grill, and two Adirondack chairs. The master bedroom on the first level of the cabin has a King bed, a TV, and access to the bathroom which can also be accessed through the hallway.
Upstairs is a loft area with large triangular windows, comfy floor cushions, a Papasan chair, soft lighting, and a small floor tea table. The loft is an excellent place to sit and have morning coffee, evening wine, or practice meditation while viewing the mountain scenery through the spectacular triangular windows. There are two bedrooms on this level. One has a queen bed, and the other has two twin beds. There is also a full bath on this floor.
There is a fire pit in the yard for an evening marshmallow roast in the yard. On the lower deck, there are two chairs to enjoy the view from there. You can walk down to the New River, one of the oldest rivers in the world and the only river in North America that flows South to North. It is a .8 mile walk down the hill. You can also access the New River by car at the Big Hill Community Park just a short drive from the cabin. The New River is perfect for tubing, rafting, fishing, and more. Some outfitters host rafting and tubing trips and guided fishing trips on the New River (as well as the other nearby rivers). This is a special treat in the spring, summer, and fall!
The cabin is wheelchair accessible, and there is a small portable ramp in the master bedroom bathroom closet to access the upper deck from the living room.
New River Retreat is located just fifteen minutes north of Boone, so all that the High Country has to offer is just a short drive away. You’re sure to love this relaxing haven!
