Prudence is an exceptional 8 bedroom villa brimming with quaint Caribbean charm in Old Queens Fort in St James. The villa is just steps away from the fabulous beach at Old Queens Fort and also the beach at the magnificent Colony Club Hotel. Visitors to Prudence enjoy all of the delights of Barbados, its glamorous nightlife, its UNESCO World Heritage listed capital, the island’s beautiful, rolling interior dotted with fabulous botanic gardens, sugar cane fields and plantation houses and a wonderful array of brilliant turquoise bays and wild, pummelling surf on the east coast. This spectacular villa is surrounded by a magical mature garden planted with tropical flowers and majestic palm trees. Having driven up the private Old Queens Fort Road, on arrival at the gates of this Caribbean wonder, you will be be immediately in awe of the villa’s unique architecture and coral stone finishes. Inside the villa, you are greeted with beautifully finished spaces, plush furnishings and a wonderful calm ambience. The living spaces flow brilliantly with the bar being a firm favourite. Such a good place to start the holiday off with some rum punch! The living areas are elegant, stylish and all beautifully illuminated. It is very easy to find a quiet spot in this immaculate villa yet it is equally wonderful for group gatherings. In one corner of the villa you will find a beautiful, serene living room with comfy furnishings and a huge television. This leads to an incredible dining area with a large feature coral stone dining table which comfortably seats 14. There is an additional 8 seater coral stone table on the patio, just off the dining room. Next to the dining area is the bar. Doors open to the veranda with yet more lounge seating, mostly undercover. The villa’s kitchen is superb with oversize appliances and a central island. You will enjoy the services of a cook while you stay at Prudence. The five bedrooms in the main house are all heavenly, dreamy spaces, all with wonderful en-suite bedrooms, air conditioning, safes, ceiling fans and gorgeous garden views. Three of the bedrooms are on the ground floor, the Blenheim, Laura and Marlborough rooms. Blenheim and Marlborough enjoy twin beds which can be set up as a king-size bed. Laura boasts a super king bed. The master bedroom suite and the Clementine suite feature king-size beds and private balconies. In total there are seven bathrooms for guests so just two of the eight bedrooms share a bathroom. Every room is incredibly spacious. The remaining three bedrooms are located in the cottage. Spencer and Rudolf have double beds and Winston has a queen-size bed. Prudence boasts gorgeous extensive grounds with a 45 ft salt filtered swimming pool, the perfect place to cool off. Deluxe loungers surround the pool as well as a very attractive gazebo which can be used for alfresco dining or perhaps to play a game of cards or enjoy some cocktails. Visitors enjoy guided walks in the island’s rolling interior, exploring the atmospheric plantation houses and the wonderful lush botanical gardens as well as incredible beach days. You can tour the subterranean caves and even swim with turtles, such amazing memories to take home with you. Not far from the villa, The Folkestone Marine Park in Holetown spans several kilometres along the coast and was set up to preserve the coral and shallow areas inhabited by the turtles. There are four reserve zones including two sport zones where motorised aquatic sports are permitted, a scientific zone and a recreational zone where you can snorkel in peace and discover the fascinating underwater world. Paynes Bay boasts a spectacular beach. The bay boasts an excellent fish market where you can buy fresh local fish or just watch as the fishermen bring their catches in. Every Friday you can buy freshly grilled fish from the vendors. It is served with delicious Bajan side dishes. Other Bajan delights include grilled chicken, mararoni pie and Bajan rum to wash it down. If you take a private island tour you can visit Garrison Savannah, St Nicholas Abbey, Cherry Tree Hill Windwill, East Point Lighthouse and other notable sights. Perhaps a visit to Barbados’ primary polo venue, Holder’s Hill could be on the cards. You can enjoy the polo and a delicious afternoon tea at the same time. When visiting St Nicholas Abbey, you can also enjoy an authentic heritage steam trip within the tropical setting of the heritage plantation. You can visit Harrison’s Cave, a magnificent underground cavern in the central highlands, riding the tramway through the caves passing cascading waterfall, stalagmites, stalactites and emerald lagoons. You can then stroll through the lush green rainforest of Hunte’s Gardens or explore the stunning Flower Forest, brimming with tropical plants and flowers. At Barbados Wildlife Reserve you can enjoy seeing parrots, flamingoes, iguanas, turtles and the adorable green monkeys who you can feed. There are some very good shopping opportunities. The Limegrove Lifestyle Centre is one of the most stylish, upmarket places to shop, dine and meander. It is home to the world’s leading retail brands including Armani, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Gucci and Ralph Lauren. The open courtyard is charming with a stunning waterfall feature. As well as shopping, you can enjoy some delicious food and of course the famous rum! You should also visit the quaint Chattle Houses for some unique shopping.
