La Casetta Rossa is a character-filled cottage which sits at the foot of the Lucchesia hills, just a short drive from beautiful medieval villages and the city of Lucca.
The cottage is in the grounds of a large estate filled with vineyards and surrounded by farmland, offering you magnificent panoramic views from inside the bright and spacious house. Sleeping up to five people across two bedrooms, the home is ideal for a family break, and the open-plan living area is perfect for an evening of chatting with a glass of wine which you can sample and buy from a local vineyard.
The garden of the house is a wonderful feature and seems to blend into the countryside as it is filled with wild-flowers and trees, providing a truly natural feel. The modern pool and covered seating areas are located amongst the vines and the grasses to create a beautiful oasis to enjoy on sunny days.
Glance up in the garden, and you will see a hilltop settlement which has been there since the fourteenth century. Today, several of the medieval buildings and defensive town walls still stand and make for a great day of exploring; visit the 13th century hillside fortress and beautiful 9th century church. Keen hikers could walk up the 3km hill and be rewarded with a delicious meal in a traditional Tuscan restaurant.
If you wish to venture further out for some day trips, then you are well-placed to do so.
