Known as the "Neighborhood of the Gods," Plaka's labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture transport visitors back to a bygone era, making it a must-visit for anyone traveling to Athens.
The area is steeped in history, with landmarks such as the Tower of the Winds, an ancient octagonal clocktower, and the Roman Agora, a reminder of the city's Roman past. The district's proximity to the Acropolis means that visitors can easily combine a visit to this iconic site with a leisurely stroll through Plaka's alleys, where every turn reveals a new piece of history or a stunning view of the city.
Plaka's vibrant atmosphere is complemented by its array of shops, where travelers can find everything from handmade jewelry and traditional Greek crafts to fine art and antiques.
