While here, visit the Chapel on the Dunes three miles away, a 1930s historical landmark with frescoes on the interior chapel walls, by booking a tour through their official website. If you’d prefer something a bit more private, try the uninhabited San Jose Island by taking the ferry from the Fisherman’s Wharf Pier. Stroll the sandy shores there admiring the picturesque views as you pick up seashells to immortalize your time there. It also serves as a great spot for bird-watching and fishing, so bring your pole and serenely cast a line. No current homes or amenities will be affected, though construction equipment may be visible and views may be obstructed in some areas. Construction has been scheduled during certain times of the day to minimize noise and potential disturbances to guests. The work is scheduled to conclude in the next year.
