The property is located in the heart of the wonderful island of Ortigia, a few steps from the Temple of Apollo, in the heart of the historic center of Syracuse (ZTL area - Traffic Restricted Area). The apartment has a living area with a modern kitchenette, a bedroom, a bathroom and two balconies. ***Taxi service from/to Catania Airport available upon request*** The inside is organized as follows: - LIVING AREA with KITCHENETTE (induction hob, fridge with freezer, kettle, moka, oven and kitchenware), dining table, wardrobe, sofa and small balcony; - LIVING ROOM with double sofa bed, open wardrobe, desk and AC split; - BEDROOM with double bed (1.60m x 1.90m), AC split, chest of drawers and small balcony; - BATHROOM with shower (raised), sink, bidet and WC. FURTHER SERVICES AVAILABLE TO GUESTS: fans (the house is very cool in summer due to the very thick walls and the high roofs), washing machine (in the bathroom) and hairdryer. Summer: the average air temperature must not get below 26°C (78,8 °F) for all kinds of buildings. Winter: the weighted average of the air temperatures must not exceed 19°C (66,2 °F). The apartment is locted in Ortigia, a few steps from the Temple of Apollo, one of the most important monuments of Ortigia and the first to have been built in Syracuse. Dated to the beginning of the 6th century BC, it is the oldest Doric temple in Sicily. Walking through the streets of the island, it is possible to admire centuries of history, splendid palaces, lively trattorias and cafes, as well as other monuments such as the Castle of Maniace, the Fonte Aretusa and the Piazza del Duomo. In two minutes on foot it is possible to reach the market (held every day, except on Sunday), a typical market full of local products and street food, where it is possible to shop and to eat local delicacies. In the area it is possible to find many other services such as a bank,a post office, a minimarket, restaurants, bars, shops and much more. Near the apartment, it is possible to find "Talete" electric minibus stop (one run every 30 minutes, from 8:00 to 20:00, one-way price of 1 euro) which will allow you to comfortably reach some of the main points of interest in the city: - The Sanctuary of the Madonnina delle Lacrime; - The Paolo Orsi museum; - The Archaeological Park of Neapolis; - The Fonte Aretusa; - The Castle of Maniace; - The bus and train station. The main towns of Sicily can be reached by Interbus coaches from the central station (via Rubino), where the shuttles to Catania-Fontanarossa airport also depart (approximately 1 hour journey). - FROM CATANIA AIRPORT: it is possible to reach the apartment by taking the ALIBUS bus service that connects Catania airport to Catania Central Station, where it is possible to take the regional train to Syracuse station, less than 20 minutes on foot from the property. Alternatively, it is possible to reach the apartment from the airport by taking Interbus bus, up to Syracuse Station. - FROM SYRACUSE STATION: it is possible to reach the apartment on foot in less than 20 minutes or by taking the minibus. - IF YOU ARE TRAVELING BY CAR: The nearest car park is 350m away from the apartment and is called “Talete”. It’s open 24/7, with convenient fares. Alternatively, it is possible to park for free a few steps from the property (NOT guaranteed and NOT bookable).
