A cosy two-bedroomed cottage tucked away on a quiet residential street only a stone’s throw from the centre of the popular market town of Machynlleth.
The name is translated from ’Osprey Cottage’ in English and mixes characterful features with a contemporary style inside to create a homely feel throughout. The rear terrace at the top of stone steps in the garden is a real bonus where guests can enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine of an evening.
On the ground floor is the living room and kitchen/diner. The Velux windows and large French doors give this kitchen space a very bright feel and it is well-stocked with all the amenities for a self-catering stay including a handy dishwasher and washing machine. Also located on the ground floor is the family shower room with its walk-in shower, basin, and toilet.
The two bedrooms can be found upstairs: The master double bedroom has a double bed and plenty of storage as well as the bonus of views out towards the Dyfi Valley. The second bedroom has bunk beds which kids will love for their family getaway.
Machynlleth is a fabulous place to explore the Dyfi Valley from. Machynlleth is a rural market town with a quirky, eco-friendly vibe nestled within the beautiful UNESCO Dyfi Biosphere. There’s plenty to see and do for guests with plenty of antique stores, alternative lifestyle shops and galleries featuring local artists and craftspeople. There’s a popular market on Wednesdays and a world famous comedy festival held annually in May.
Highlights of the things to keep everyone entertained include MOMA Machynlleth which is a popular museum of modern art in a Victorian town house and a former Wesleyan chapel - The Tabernacle. It has a large collection of local treasure and its white-walled exhibition spaces show contemporary Welsh paintings, prints, sculpture, and photography.
The Owain Glyndŵr Centre can be found on Machynlleth’s high street. It’s home to shops, galleries, cafés and, on Wednesdays the market stalls. It was also the site of national hero Owain Glyndŵr’s 1404 parliament - the original Senedd. The Owain Glyndŵr Centre is the local history museum that tells his story.
There is free, on-street parking outside the cottage and pets are welcome but must be kept downstairs and are not left unattended.
