Whaleship Harbor View
Classic in its coastal setting and beautifully polished in its design and decor, this three-level home in Bodega Bay enjoys a commanding view of Bodega Harbor. This inviting house is a place to relax, walk to wild ocean beaches nearby, and take in the rugged beauty of coastal Sonoma County.
Find ample space to park in the driveway and enter by way of the wraparound deck - a gorgeous spot to admire the bay view, soak up the sunshine in the afternoons, and grill and dine al fresco when the mood strikes. Inside, you’ll find a living space that’s full of natural light and California coastal decor. There’s a living room with a wood-burning stove and a 55’ TV capable of Roku streaming, a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances and a breakfast bar for two, and a glass-top dining table by the window. The family room serves as another place to unwind, sporting its own 55’ TV with Roku capabilities, as well as a lovely glimpse of the outdoor scenery.
The bedrooms are wonderfully separated among the three floors, offering both comfort and privacy. The entire third floor is one loft-style bedroom with a sitting area where you can read with a view of the water. There are two bedrooms on the main floor as well. The lower level acts as its own living space of sorts, offering a bedroom with a full bathroom, a cozy den, and a gas fireplace. Additionally, there is a table with chairs that can be used as a workspace, a dining set, or a game table.

About the area
Bodega Bay, nestled along the picturesque coast of Northern California, is a serene and captivating destination that offers a delightful escape for travelers seeking both relaxation and adventure. This small coastal town, famed for its role in Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds," is a treasure trove of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and culinary delights.
Nature enthusiasts will be drawn to the rugged coastline and the numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation. Bodega Head, the rocky promontory that shelters the bay, provides stunning panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and is a prime spot for whale watching, especially during the migration seasons. Hiking trails wind along the cliffs, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the area's natural splendor.
The bay itself is a haven for water sports. Kayaking and paddleboarding are popular activities, allowing visitors to explore the calm waters and observe the diverse marine life, including seals, sea lions, and a variety of seabirds. Fishing enthusiasts can embark on chartered boats to reel in salmon, rockfish, and Dungeness crab, a local specialty.
Bodega Bay's beaches are equally inviting, with Doran Beach being a family favorite for its gentle surf and picnic areas. For a more secluded experience, head to the pristine sands of Schoolhouse Beach, where the waves crash against the shore, creating a dramatic backdrop for sunbathing and beachcombing.
The culinary scene in Bodega Bay is a reflection of its coastal setting, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. Travelers can indulge in local oysters, clam chowder, and catch-of-the-day specials at the town's restaurants, many of which boast scenic views of the harbor. The region's proximity to Sonoma County's wine country also means that local vintages are readily available to complement any meal.
For a touch of culture and history, visitors can explore the Bodega Bay Fisherman's Festival, an annual event that celebrates the local fishing community with food, music, and crafts. The Bodega Marine Laboratory, part of the University of California, offers insights into the area's marine ecology and conservation efforts.
In essence, Bodega Bay is a destination that offers a tranquil coastal retreat with a rich array of experiences. From its stunning landscapes and wildlife to its fresh seafood and friendly community, Bodega Bay is a gem on the California coast that promises a memorable visit for all who venture to its shores.
