What’s nearby:
This location is unbeatable if you compare it to other rentals nearby–you’ll be 170 yards away from the ocean and a short two-and-a-half-mile drive or walk from downtown York where dining options, convenience stores, and grocery stores abound. You’ll have two incredible beaches nearby; Long Sands, which is two blocks away, and Short Sands, which is two and a half miles away and is the perfect beach to visit with the kids. There you can find a public playground, several basketball courts, and a lush open lawn area. Downtown York boasts a plethora of dining options if you’d like to treat the crew to delicious local meals. Plan a fun, family trip to York’s Wild Kingdom, a zoo and amusement park combo! Make sure you visit the Nubble Lighthouse (less than three miles away), which sits on top of the Cape Neddick Nubble, a very small rocky island. It might not be the most impressive lighthouse, but it’s a wonderful sight to experience, especially during Christmas. Less than 10 miles away is Mount Agamenticus, which is popular thanks to its hiking and biking trails, and also due to the stunning 360-degree view from the top.

About the area
York Beach, Maine, is a quintessential New England coastal destination that offers a charming blend of sandy beaches, family-friendly attractions, and a touch of history. This picturesque locale is perfect for those looking to unwind by the sea, indulge in fresh seafood, and explore the natural beauty of Maine's rugged coastline.
The heart of York Beach is Short Sands Beach, a sheltered cove that's ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing. The soft sand and gentle waves make it a favorite spot for families, while the nearby Ellis Park provides a grassy area for picnics and games. Just a short drive away, Long Sands Beach offers a more expansive stretch of sand, popular with surfers and beachgoers looking for more room to spread out.
York's Wild Kingdom, located right in York Beach, is a unique zoo and amusement park that delights visitors of all ages. With a variety of animals, rides, and games, it's a perfect place to spend a fun-filled day with the family. The park's butterfly kingdom and petting zoo are particularly enchanting for younger guests.
For those interested in history, the Cape Neddick "Nubble" Lighthouse is an iconic landmark that shouldn't be missed. Perched on a rocky island just off the coast, the lighthouse is one of the most photographed in the world and offers stunning views, especially at sunset. While the island itself is not accessible to the public, visitors can get an excellent view from Sohier Park, which also has a gift shop and telescopes for a closer look.
York Beach also serves as a gateway to the many outdoor activities that Maine is known for. Kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing are popular pastimes, and the nearby York Harbor and Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge provide serene settings for nature walks and bird watching.
The town itself is dotted with quaint shops, art galleries, and restaurants where you can savor fresh lobster rolls, creamy clam chowder, and other New England specialties. The Goldenrod, a local institution since 1896, is famous for its saltwater taffy, made on-site and a must-try for those with a sweet tooth.
In essence, York Beach offers a delightful mix of seaside relaxation, family entertainment, and a taste of Maine's coastal charm. It's a place where memories are made, whether you're building sandcastles on the beach, exploring the local wildlife, or simply enjoying the laid-back rhythm of life by the ocean.
