What’s nearby: Ottawa National Forest is only minutes north, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is just a few towns over, and Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest is all around you. Whether you’re looking for a meticulously groomed trail or you want to set your own tracks through a fresh layer of snow amid towering pines or old-growth hemlocks, the perfect trail is waiting nearby. In addition to skiing, many of the local trails allow snowshoeing and fat-tire biking as well. Wild Rice Lake is a 384 acre lake located in Vilas County. It has a maximum depth of 26 feet. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fish include Musky, Panfish, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike and Walleye.
