Your dreams of Maine will come to life at this four-bedroom Paris property! A centuries-old home with a classic covered porch, a historic, dog-friendly interior, and sweeping views of The White Mountains Presidential Range. Thanks to the incredible location on 80 privately owned acres, you have a stunning view of sights as nearby as the reds and oranges of autumn trees when the leaves erupt into a gorgeous display of Fall colors or as far as the peak of Mount Washington. Enjoy seasonal walks on the three miles of woodland trails. The trails are heavily forested with trees upwards of 100 feet tall and they are just a short walk from the back door. The forest is full of wildlife, including moose, deer, and turkeys. If you would like to walk the trails, keep in mind it could take you up to three hours. During the winter months, your backyard leads right into continued family fun with cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails, along with groomed, locally maintained snowmobiling trails that will link you all the way up to Bethel!
Originally constructed in 1810, this two-level home is part of the Paris Hill National Historic District, a 19th-century village that sits 48 miles north of downtown Portland. You’ll be in the midst of beautiful old homes, just a quarter-mile from the Paris Hill Country Club, and 30 miles north of the beloved Sebago Lake State Park. The property is also just steps away from the Cornwall Nature Preserve.
Thanks to its distinct charm and glorious surroundings in every season, this home is an ideal destination for a tranquil family getaway.
You’ll feel at home as soon as you enter the living space, which features hardwood floors, generous seating, and a vibrant mix of patterns in the carpets, wallpaper, and upholstery. Open that novel you’ve been meaning to read in the comfort of a rocking chair or spread out a board game on the living room rug and play together.
Find another space to mingle in the sunlit family room, where the large picture windows frame views of the surrounding countryside. Curl up on the sofa or one of the armchairs and gather the whole family for a DVD or VHS favorite on the cable TV, DVD player, and VCR. This home also has free WiFi so you can stay plugged in if you like.
The full kitchen is a charming mix of function and country style, offering wide-plank hardwood floors, plentiful cabinetry, and a wall of windows that let in the sunshine. Flip pancakes on the stove each morning, slice fresh fruit at the circular eat-in table, and leave the dishwasher to handle the clean-up.
Take your dog for morning walks around the Paris Hill Historic District, keeping in mind that a 75-lb. weight limit and a nightly pet fee apply. And there’s no better place to spend your days than outside on the covered porch, where you’ll find a selection of rocking chairs and cushioned lounge chairs, a hammock for afternoon naps, and a lovely view of the yard where your kids can play capture the flag.
You’ll entertain with ease on the spacious property, thanks to the charcoal and gas grills that can assist with family barbecues. After a day spent in the great outdoors, you can leave your clothes to spin in the private washer/dryer.
With four bedrooms and two-and-a-half bathrooms, this home will accommodate as many as eight guests. You’ll find one bedroom with a queen-size bed and a second bedroom with a queen bed and a futon - and both rooms offer panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The third and fourth bedrooms have three twin beds between them, and a comfortable sofabed is provided for additional sleeping space.
