Heron Place, Great Langdale

Heron Place has been extended to accommodate 8 guests (3 double rooms and a twin), with an extended kitchen, wonderful oak-framed garden room, and 3 beautiful bathrooms. The renovation and extension work has been completed to a very high standard in 2018 and the owners have spared no expense in fitting out and furnishing this wonderful home. Situated in Great Langdale, it is a great base for walking this beautiful valley. Heron Place was built in the 1930’s in the style of a traditional Lakeland farmhouse. The interior of the property retains many of its original features, with strong influences from the Arts & Crafts movement. A great deal of attention has been paid to warmth and stylish furnishings throughout the property – this is very much a home for the owners who are sharing this with us. There is almost an acre of garden, which has been carefully planted, with paths and various seating areas which provide dramatic vistas of the stunning views into Great Langdale. A wooden deck has been built around the tree in the middle of the garden, which provides an amazing area to sit and enjoy the views. A beck runs off the fells through one side of the garden, and is now incorporated as a feature in the garden room. The Langdale Pikes dominate the area, and provide an awesome sense of scale. The Property Manager office is in Elterwater and the team there are on hand should you need anything throughout your stay. A short walk takes you up the valley to the Stickle Barn and New Dungeon Ghyll pubs. Stunning views and walks throughout. Chapel Stile and Elterwater within easy reach. Bus route from Great Langdale to Elterwater, Skelwith Bridge and on to Ambleside, with connections to Grasmere and Windermere.
