Late at night, why not zone out in the media room, with its chaise and 60-inch plasma TV with Blu-ray and streaming Netflix? The chaise sofa also converts into a queen-size bed for those sleeping in this room. You may prefer to sit quietly by the tall native rock, wood-burning fireplace and gaze out at the panoramic of the waterfall and Washougal River. This vista will surely lure you outdoors, where there’s croquet, a horseshoe pit, and even whitewater rafting and tubing nearby. In the fully stocked kitchen, you’ll have all the basic tools needed to fix a feast. You’ll even have a Keurig coffeemaker! Check out the propane grill outside - a freshly grilled meal will be delightful to share at the massive hand-hewn black walnut dining table. After dinner, soak in the luxurious hot tub under an expansive roof and before unobstructed views of the ancient forest and river all year round. Pro tip: warm your spa towels in the dryer beforehand! On the lower level, you have the master bedroom with a comfortable king-size bed. The adjacent bath has double sinks and tub with rainfall showerhead. A door at the end of the bath leads to the laundry room where you’ll find a laundry room, which also has its own exterior door so you won’t have to worry about tracking mud and sand through the house. The surrounding forest is part of a 26-acre family compound that is shared with Eva’s Cottage, a getaway for four that can be rented together with River Bend Lodge. Eva’s descendants steward the land and maintain the forest with an eye to the enjoyment of future generations. There are four trails that wind through the property, so be sure to bring your hiking boots! This highly rated and recommended Columbia Gorge vacation rental is a favorite.
