Hike the private trails, unwind by the fire, or sip coffee on the porch. From creekside drives to starry nights, this secluded retreat offers the perfect blend of comfort, nature, and quiet escape from the everyday. Trash cans will be located under the deck @ sliding glass door. If guest has excessive trash there is free dumping sites in Floyd, one being about a mile away. (guest can OTA "green dumpsters in Floyd" for nearest bin. -The driveway is steep, but was created so that a front wheel drive car is able to make it up to the property. (taking the turns wide may also help guest.) -On exit- there is a steel bridge before you get to main road. Look to the left before exiting (there is a sign for reminder) before turning as there is a curve. -Guests will have access to a charcoal grill. Guests will need to bring their own charcoal for use. -The coffee pot is a "ninja" brand coffee maker. It can be used with pods or regular grounds. Both will be provided by the host. -Roku TV -OTA nest thermostat. (guest can put it to their liking.) There will be signage next to thermostat for min/max during seasons) -There is a trail on the property for guests to enjoy a minimal hike. There will be a map/reference of the trail on glass coffee table -The only cabinet that will have the child lock on it is under the sink. -Only room with blackout curtains is the master bedroom upstairs. Bed sizes: 2 twin beds in one bedroom on the main level 1 queen bed in the second bedroom on the main level 1 queen pull-out sleeper sofa in the living room (main level) 1 king bed in the upstairs master bedroom (attached full bath) 1 full-size daybed outside the master suite . Locating the cabin (final approach) -As you near the cabin, you’ll see a sign on a tree pointing toward the house. -If you’re at the steel bridge near the barn and river: -Cross the steel bridge, heading away from the main road. -Immediately after the bridge, the gravel road will fork. -Take the left fork (do not continue straight). -Follow the road up the mountain for about 0.25 mile on a gentle incline. -This road leads directly to the house. Note: There are no lights on this section, so arriving before dark is strongly recommended. Use your phone flashlight / flashlight if needed. Important Road & Vehicle Information: -Vehicle Requirements: Only four-wheel-drive trucks, front-wheel-drive cars, or SUVs can safely access the property. Two-wheel-drive trucks will likely not make it up the driveway/mountain and are not suitable. -Driving Instructions: When navigating the driveway or sharp turns, please take the turns wide to maintain traction, especially in front-wheel-drive vehicles. Improper turning may cause vehicles to get stuck. -Safety Reminder: The road can be steep and challenging, particularly in wet or dark conditions. The dock and side of back deck has the ability to use the radio source that is located on the dock, in boathouse closet. Guests have access to the lower level outdoor closet that has life jackets, and floats. There is 3 adult ( 1 is a double), and 3 child size kayaks. There is a charcoal grill in that lower level outdoor closet available. The main dining room table has a leaf, and is able to accommodate to 12 people. There is a twin size trundle bed located on the lower level closet (extra sheets can be found for that in closets). Wine coolers are located in butlers pantry on main level, and lower level kitchenette . Corn hole boards are located in lower outdoor closet. There is a fire pit located under the covered gazebo. There is both a Keurig and regular coffee maker in main kitchen There are two washer and dryers in the home, both available for guest use. (in mudroom on main level, and behind closet doors at the bottom of stairs on lower level). There is a key lock box on outdoor post at the gate entrance if you desire to lock the gate. PLEASE put the key back and leave the gate OPEN when leaving. There is a backup generator that will operate lights, and refrigerators. (it will come on automatically if needed.) There doors going to outside (except front door) are spider lock doors, that means when you unlock the deadbolt push the handle DOWN to open. (lifting up the handle will trigger locks that come out of the perimeter of the door into doorframe.) Owners are open to allowing "events" such as a party of 25, and a wedding of up to 50 people. The master bedroom and bath are on the main level and feature a king bed. Upstairs you will find a cozy queen-sized sleeping area, sloped ceilings, and a bathroom next to the bedroom. The couch on the lower level pulls out to make a full bed increasing the sleeping capacity to 6. New River Lure is a charming three-level, 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom mountain cabin between Boone and West Jefferson on the South Fork of the New River. About 20 miles to Boone, less than 8 miles to West Jefferson, and less than 9 miles to Jefferson, this cabin is convenient to many fun things to do in the High Country. Located only a few miles off Highway 421, guests from Charlotte, Raleigh, or other areas east can get to this cabin faster than most other High Country destinations. There are numerous areas nearby to drop off your rafts and friends, take a vehicle to a pick-up spot a few miles away, and spend an afternoon rafting down the New River. Nearby river guide services will get you geared up for tubing, kayaking, or rafting. Many guided fly-fishing and reel-fishing options exist for native and released trout, small-mouth bass, and other native sport fish. Also nearby are Appalachian Ski Mountain (30 miles), Sugar Mountain Ski Resort (40 miles), and Beech Mountain Ski Resort (47 miles) for snow skiing and snowboarding, ice skating, and snow tubing. Hawksnest is a snowtubing park on Seven Devils, less than 40 miles away. Hawksnest also does zipline tours during warmer months. Tweetsie Railroad theme park is about 28 miles away. Great walking and hiking trails exist in the New River Acres neighborhood. The cabin itself is a charmer! It has five sleeping areas, 4 with beds and one with a sleeper sofa. The main level boasts vaulted tongue-in-groove ceilings, wood walls and floors, and large windows to let in the sunlight. The great room has a stone, floor-to-ceiling fireplace with gas logs, an HDTV, and comfy leather furniture. The kitchen is fully equipped, and a dining table seats six. Also on the main level are two queen bedrooms with HDTVs and a full bathroom in the hallway with a tub and shower combo. Upstairs features a loft-style master suite with a king-size bed, an HD Smart TV, a desk for quiet work, and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. Downstairs is a family room with a game room and a den. ALL bedrooms (on both levels) contain a 55 inch TV including HBO. Ceiling heights throughout the ground level are 10 feet with the exception of the great room which has 21 foot ceilings and 3 large scissor trusses.
