The Catskills Waterfall House is conveniently located just a short drive from Hunter and Tannersville, where you can explore local shops, restaurants, and cultural events throughout the year. There is limited public transportation and car services near the house so we strongly recommend bringing or renting a car. The neighborhood surrounding The Catskills Waterfall House is all about immersing yourself in nature and tranquility. While the property itself offers unparalleled privacy and direct access to the forest and waterfall, the area is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. You can explore nearby hiking trails, enjoy scenic drives, or simply take in the beauty of the protected national forest that surrounds the home.
• Important Note: Exploring the waterfall and swimming in the creek is at guests’ own risk. Please exercise caution near any body of water on or near the property.
• Guests will have access to the entire house, excluding a locked owner’s closet, supply room, and machine/laundry room.
• Winter Access Notice: The driveway and parking area is plowed in winter. During snowy conditions, a 4WD or AWD vehicle is strongly recommended for reaching the home. If you’re traveling without one, access may be difficult or not possible at times. Portoro cannot be held responsible for weather-related access issues or provide assistance if a vehicle becomes stuck.

• Directions + Check-In Details, Before check-in, Portoro will send all check-in details, detailed directions, and a digital guest guide for the home by email and text to help ensure a seamless arrival.
• Check-In / Check-Out (Early/Late Requests), Check-in is 4:00pm and check-out is 11:00am. We can’t guarantee early check-ins or late check-outs, and a fee typically applies. When approved, fees apply for times outside a one-hour window of standard check-in/check-out. If you need significant flexibility, the best option is to book an additional night.
• Local Taxes, In New York State and Greene County, hotel/vacation rental hosts are required to collect hotel tax. Portoro collects these taxes within the booking transaction.
• Animals/Pets, Dogs Only (Guidelines + Fee), Dogs are allowed only in designated “Pet-Friendly” Portoro listings and must be disclosed prior to arrival. Maximum 2 dogs per stay. • No Parties or Events, Parties and events are not permitted.
• Quiet Hours, 10:00pm–7:00am. These hours reflect local residential and regional expectations; please keep noise low and be mindful of neighbors.
• Report Damages, Any known damages incurred during your stay must be reported to the property manager immediately.
• Security, Some Portoro properties have exterior-only cameras for monitoring.
• Local or Property Water Features, Some Portoro properties may have pools, hot tubs, or other nearby water features. There is no guard around water features; use at your own risk.
• Wildlife + Pests, You will likely see wildlife during your stay (deer, turkeys, groundhogs, foxes, etc.). Please note: We are in bear country, so it’s very important to discard all garbage in the secure bear-proof bin (warmer months) or garbage can (winter). For homes that include/offer BBQs, all food items should be brought inside and BBQs scraped clean after use to avoid attracting wildlife. The home is regularly treated for pests, but because we’re in the country, it’s not unusual for an occasional insect or mouse to make an appearance.
