Brackett Cottage was built by a shipwright for a shipwright – everything about this home is unique. No two rooms have the same shape or height; every room has a colonial era fireplace and a tilt earned through the centuries. Built-ins abound, and the staircase with brass rail feels more appropriate in a ship than a home. If you want an elegantly appointed, unique accommodation, Brackett Cottage is the place for you. Guest note: as is typical with many colonial era homes, ceilings and doorways are a little lower than today’s standards. Tall people may need to duck through doorways. In the Living Room, it’s easy to imagine family, friends, and neighbors gathered around the fireplace on the couch or the swivel chairs, sharing news and stories.
