The great room is where cozy season happens: sofas grouped around the wood-burning fireplace (operating instructions posted right there), a turntable and record collection for whoever picks the soundtrack, and puzzles plus board games stacked for every age. A second, gas fireplace warms the dining room — switch it on at its back right side — so the whole main floor glows on a rainy night. Stream a movie, spin a record, or start a living-room game night; guests are welcome to use either fireplace. Cook, snack, and feast without leaving — the chef’s kitchen comes loaded with an espresso machine, KitchenAid mixer, electric fondue set, popcorn popper, hand-turned pasta machine, panini press, and waffle maker, plus pantry staples ready when you arrive. Both fireplaces are yours to use: operating instructions for the wood-burning fireplace are posted in the main living room, and the gas fireplace in the dining room switches on at its back right side. The spa is heated year-round at no charge. The pool is unheated November through March; pool heating is available April–October only, must be requested at least 2 days in advance ($150 per calendar day), and may not be set above 92 degrees — by reserving this home you agree to that limit, or you may be charged an additional fee. This hilltop home stays naturally cool in the redwood canopy, with heating for chilly nights and limited air conditioning on warmer days. The primary renter must be 25 or older. Up to four dogs (80 lbs each max) are welcome in the enclosed yard — please keep them leashed on nearby trails. The house is very private, situated on a 3-acre apple orchard with over 50 apple trees of different varieties, including the locally famous Gravenstein, and we welcome you to pick your own apples to your heart’s content in the late summer/early fall harvest season. This modern house is outfitted with central heating/air-conditioning, a 70” HDTV, Amazon Echo/Alexa speakers, and high speed internet --- great for remote work in a beautiful wine country setting. While our guests may not want to leave this luxurious property, Green Valley Oasis is centrally located to all that West Sonoma has to offer. Our favorite weekend ritual is getting coffee and pastries at Pascaline (local French bakery 4 min away), then going for a leisurely (and kid-friendly!) bike ride on the West County Trail from Forestville to charming Graton with wonderful restaurants (Underwood, Willowood), art galleries, and wine tasting along the way. You can also visit the Russian River beaches with inner-tubing, canoeing, kayaking in the summer (15 min away), explore downtown Sebastopol (15 min – The Barlow is great!), neighboring small towns of Occidental (15 min) and lively Guerneville (20 min), bustling Santa Rosa (20 min), wonderful beaches of Bodega Bay (30 min), and fine dining and shopping in Healdsburg (30 min). Green Valley Retreat is a magnificently remodeled home with high-end taste. It’s a wine county gem in an agricultural community celebrated for the Farm to Table food movement. Charming and renowned restaurants and wineries are minutes away, but you can pick fresh produce from the massive guest garden and (newly planted) orchard. Additional fruit trees are scattered throughout the property. With a large in-line gas BBQ on the back deck, and choice dining in or outside, guests love cooking in as much as going out. The kitchen boasts plentiful counter space, deluxe appliances and quality accessories. The attention to details like original artwork, ample lighting, 60+ inch TV and access to fresh cut flowers from the garden make for an excellent retreat. The main house boasts 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms along with an office/laundry room, and living and dining areas off the large kitchen. Just outside - off the back deck - are an additional full bathroom and an outdoor shower for your trips to the pool and hot tub (built into the pool). The Pool House offers an additional sleeping space with a Queen Murphy bed and sleeper sofa in case your group isn’t all couples - the maximum occupancy is still 6 people total. It’s also a media room - perfect for movie time - and things like a break from the sun and gourmet coffee station. In addition to the gardens and front yard orchard, the backyard contains a meadow of native bunch grasses - not your typical lawn - along with a stand of redwood trees, oodles of flowers, multiple seating areas, and one of our favorite built-in propane fire pits.
