Be cautious of local plants like poison oak and poison ivy, which are prevalent in the area. For added security, exterior cameras are positioned to monitor the parking area. Given our mountain setting, weather conditions can be unpredictable. We strongly recommend that guests traveling during winter months equip their vehicles with 4WD and winter tires or carry snow chains for added safety. Indoor fireplaces are currently undergoing an upgrade and will not be operational in the spring and summer of 2025. Lastly, to protect our fragile ecosystem and reduce wildfire risk, outdoor fires other then using provided gas fireplace are strictly prohibited from May through October.

The grounds are shared, but each home feels quiet and independent. Larger groups sometimes reserve both homes together while still having room to spread out. We’ve set everything up ahead of time, so you can check in and settle in on your own. Guests will have access to the entire home and the surrounding private property during their stay. A second home on the property, Lovers Nest, sits about 300 feet away and is rented separately. Larger groups sometimes reserve both homes together while still having space of their own. This home is located on 43 private acres in Mariposa, California in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. While most mountain properties are located on a steep hill, all 43 acres are accessible, with over 2 miles of hiking trails for guests. The location offers incredible privacy while still being close to all that Yosemite has to offer. Mariposa (15 minutes) and the nearby town of Oakhurst (25 minutes) were both settled during the Gold Rush and delight guests with their Wild West roots, diverse dining options, and unique attractions, like a mineralogy museum, a steam train ride, and historical villages. In this area, it’s easy to do tons of outdoor activities like skiing, tubing, water sports, sky diving, canoeing, horseback riding, climbing, and off-road excursions. The biggest draw to this area is, of course, Yosemite National Park. The South Gate Entrance in Fish Camp is a 45-minute drive from the house and the Yosemite Entrance located in El Portal takes about an hour, although travel times do get longer during weekend rush hours and holidays. Yosemite is world-renowned for its incredible natural beauty. Within its roughly 1,200 square miles, you’ll find deep valleys, picturesque meadows, giant sequoias, countless waterfalls, expansive wilderness, and miles of scenic hiking trails. There are endless opportunities for adventure, whether it’s hiking, biking, fishing, birdwatching, horseback riding, rock climbing (El Capitan is the biggest rock monolith in the world), stargazing, swimming, boating, skiing, snowshoeing, or scenic drives. It’s a beautiful place to visit year-round, and every season brings a different experience. In Yosemite and the surrounding area, you’ll have opportunities to view plenty of wildlife, including deer, turkeys, squirrels, hawks, and rabbits. You may even see a coyote, bear, mountain lion, raccoon, opossum, skunk, rattlesnake, tarantula, or scorpion! And be mindful of the poison oak and poison ivy that are part of the natural surroundings. Our location is also convenient to beautiful Bass Lake, a recreational area known for excellent fishing, hiking, wakeboarding, and watersports. Bass Lake is about 30 minutes from the house. If you want to gather with family and friends surrounded by nature, there’s no better place to be. Guests will need a vehicle for their stay. The closest airport is Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT ~1 hour 20 min away). There is no local taxi company or car service available in the area. Yosemite National Park South Gate Entrance in Fish Camp is about a 1-hour drive from Stone House. The Yosemite Entrance in El Portal, where Yosemite Valley is located, is also about a 1-hour drive. Travel times can be longer during weekend rush hours and holidays, so we recommend planning accordingly. Lovers Nest is located in a secluded area and the property is not fully fenced. Being surrounded by Yosemite means sharing the area with the local wildlife and nature that comes with it. Animals that may be seen around the property include deer, turkeys, squirrels, hawks, and rabbits. Less commonly seen, but living in the area, are coyotes, bears, mountain lions, raccoons, opossums, skunks, rattlesnakes, tarantulas, and scorpions. Local plants also include poison oak and poison ivy. Wildfires are a natural part of California, including the Sierra Nevada region. Some species, including sequoias, rely on fire as part of their natural life cycle. Wildfire season is most common between June and November. Property Registration Number: 2021181

A Blue Sky Lodge

Yosemite National Park, CA, US
3 Bedrooms 9 Guests
Aug 31 - Sep 2
$425 night

Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. The lofty ‘Great Room’ and accompanying loft is the perfect spot during any of the four seasons to experience this natural woodland setting with sunlight streaming through the windows. The gourmet kitchen is designed for ease in preparing and enjoying a sumptuous meal while overlooking the park. This house includes an octagonal tower on two levels, a great room, large patio, three (03) bedrooms plus a library, laundry, and two and a half baths (including a master bath suite). There is a California King bed, Queen bed, Double bed, and open out twin with an occupancy rating for 10. Comfort and ambiance are provided by ductless heating and air conditioning, along with a gas fireplace and barbeque. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, read a good book by the fireside, relax in the claw-foot tub, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park in a house made for enjoying life and being a part of a breathtaking adventure. The Art Deco theme is woven into the wide array of textures and shapes from its exterior octagonal tower to its interior polished granite fireplace wall. The Lodge is a pastiche of many different styles, united in their celebration of the forest just outside its windows. Yosemite National Park is a neighbor of A Kojoji Hela Koca where ‘Dress Circle’ seats await you for a direct vista of this national treasure. From the lofty ‘Great Room’ with its built-in acoustics; play an instrument in the loft, read a book by the fireplace, do a jigsaw on the granite table, enjoy the sunlight streaming in the windows … and be ready for all that jazz. The design and interior decoration of this house was influenced by the bold geometric forms of Art Deco; the bright colors of the era; the updated craftsmanship of the furniture and the exotic styles of China and Japan, India, Persia, ancient Egypt, as well as Incan and Mayan art. Come to the house along its Art Deco railing of steel and timber, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright’s arcs and spheres and enjoy the international mix of styles, including an exuberance of patterns and subtle pigments… much like the riot of colours within Yosemite in the spring or autumn. Enter the Lodge through its round blue door and get ready for a kitchen built by cooks. Our family’s pastime is cooking, baking…and enjoying a sumptuous meal together. We built the kitchen and granite island thinking of people who relish the culinary arts and whipping up a flavorful feast in this natural wood-land setting. Sit in the Picasso blue dining room chairs to enjoy great meals…while making great memories. The Master Bedroom on the first floor is a retreat. A chase lounge is adorned in a Breakers Blue Moonlight fabric and provides a place to grab a quick nap before entering the large master bath complete with a claw foot bathtub, peacock feathers in a feature wall, and Art Deco tile trim. This includes a recreation of the ‘1920 Flapper Fans’ in the tile baseboards combined with a classic mix of Egyptian and Mayan motifs in the large walk-in shower. The upstairs bedrooms have ample closet space to put the bags in and grab the shorts or hiking pants for a long walk. Art Deco overhead lamps and window trim with red oak pyramids continue the theme. Want to get away? The library tucked into the 2nd floor is a good start. The ‘whimsical’ loveseats with their Georgio Pewter fabric will keep one guessing on the best seating arrangement for that room. And the loft? Built for a choir to perform for a small wedding below. The musical ‘S’ iron railing pattern is testament to our family’s love of music … along with cooking. The loft has circular cocktail ottoman wrapped in a metric blue Caribbean fabric that is just right for catching a glimpse of a deer or a chickaree (Douglas squirrel) out its adjacent paned window. And the twin high-back chairs facing the glory of Yosemite are perfect for unwinding, getting inspired, doing a bit of thought-provoking writing or sketching of the trees just outside the tower’s 8-sided space. The Lodge (A Kojoji Hela Koca) is like an Art Deco design -- timeless because of its futuristic characteristics, wrapped in a green (or white) blanket of the natural surroundings. Rich color, bold lines and symmetrical shapes help brand this house as unique. Sit on the deck, curl up in a cozy corner, slow the pace down, reconnect to family and friends. Come and be on the edge of Yosemite National Park, in a house made for enjoying life. NOTE: The name of this house has been carefully selected by our family to remember one of the Native American groups who lived in the Sierra Nevada mountains around what is now known as Yosemite. We also tried to include the Miwok geometric forms and lines in the materials and fabrics we chose, including the horizontal lines, zigzags, small triangles, rectangles, arrowheads and diamond shapes that are found in the designs they created.

No need to start any laundry, we’ll handle it all off site with our professional linen company. 2.) If you have time to start the dishwasher, that would be helpful. 3.) Kindly throw your garbage in the large green dumpster, located out by the parking! It really helps us keep the critters away! 4.) PLEASE return any furniture you may have moved during your stay (especially outdoor chairs). 5.)
