The Farmhouse and Pool House are situated on 92 beautiful acres in the Russian River Valley, with views of serene forests and hills. Though private (there is an onsite caretaker family), Black Mountain is in the ideal location for your Sonoma County getaway. The Russian River is just under a mile away, and there are numerous wineries and vineyards within a short drive. The Farmhouse was built in 1932 and retains much of its original character. On the main floor, the modernized kitchen with extensive counter space, breakfast table, bar seating and adjacent enclosed sun room with ping-pong table allows you to gather with friends and family while cooking, eating and playing without breaking up the festivities. The kitchen is well stocked for serious food events and well lit with generous windows and built in lighting. The living room with woodstove and TV (DVD player only), a second dining area and a bedroom with queen bed and a full bathroom round out the downstairs area. A wide deck with built in bench and additional seating stretches the length of the Farm House and wraps around the kitchen to end at an outdoor shower. Upstairs you’ll enjoy the updated 2 full bathrooms and décor throughout the 4 bedrooms - each one is distinctive with original artwork and pieces collected locally and around the world blended with contemporary touches. Two of the bedrooms open to a balcony overlooking the valley and hills. The Pool House, just down the driveway from the Farmhouse, was designed and custom built in 1999 by the current owners. Your first stop at the Pool House is the great room with open trestle ceilings, fireplace, built-in window seat, generous seating areas including a lovely wood dining table, and kitchen with ample wood and concrete counter tops. International folk art and on- of-a-kind furniture make this a remarkable space to gather. There are also musical instruments - a piano, guitar and drums - and sheet music and lyrics for the musically talented. With multiple exterior entrances and large outdoor gathering spaces, the vibe is distinctly upscale camping. An extensive covered patio with built in grill and large table connects the great room to the bedrooms and bathrooms. The two spacious bedrooms and half bath (toilet and sink) are up a set of exterior stairs. Exterior doors lead from a small covered outdoor hallway into each bedroom and the half bath. The bedroom facing the hillside has a queen bed and a private patio and the bedroom facing the lawn and pool area has two queen beds. Both have grand windows to allow sunlight and great views! On the ground level, the full bathroom is definitely upscale camping! The entrance is below the front bedroom and faces the pool area, but once inside the shower and toilet have separate rooms and there are benches and hooks for all towels, shoes and clothes while you play at the pool. Abundant outdoor seating areas, numerous fruit trees, grassy lawns, pool, hot tub and BBQs inspire outdoor living at Black Mountain! The main area of outdoor activity is around the pool and Pool House. There are multiple BBQ options, including a gas grill and a built-in charcoal grill. The covered BBQ patio extends to the pool, which has a safety cover, and along the front side of the Pool House. Know Before You Book: Maximum Occupancy and Quiet Hours: The maximum occupancy at Bella Vista is 6 people not including kids under 3 years old. Quiet hours are from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at all times. Parking: There is parking for a maximum of 4 vehicles. RVs, trailers, and campers are prohibited per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance. Bed Sizes: Upstairs first bedroom: Queen bed; Upstairs second bedroom: Queen bed; Downstairs den (with doors): Twin trundle bed. Heating: Central heat and woodburning fireplace (firewood and kindling not provided) Cooling: The house does not have air conditioning. Being near the coast, nighttime temps drop and opening windows is usually enough to cool the house. Location: Bella Vista is in a cozy residential neighborhood. It is a mix of permanent residents and vacation rentals, families, working folks, and visitors. Rural Setting and Critters: We live in a rural area with ants, spiders, rodents, and larger critters from raccoons and mountain lions to bears. While we make the best effort to protect against them from coming into homes, we also do not use poison where it can harm wildlife, pets, and children. And keeping all critters out is simply not possible. We appreciate your understanding that ants (especially) come in without warning and may not have been present at the time of cleaning. Cell Phones: Some cell phones do not have service in this area. There is a physical phone and you can set cell phones to wifi calling. Stairs: An interior staircase connects the upper and lower levels of the house. Outside, there are approx. 60 stairs (including some uneven pavers) from the back deck to the river access. Fencing: The back deck overlooking the river and hot tub deck are fully fenced. There is not fencing along the riverbank and seasonal beach. Guests are welcome to bring their login info for streaming apps. In the Den (downstairs), the 50-inch, 4K TV also has a DVD player. One of the upstairs bedrooms has a 32-inch, 1080p screen. While the TVs do not have cable services, they do have the streaming service Fubo, which provides additional live TV, local channels, live sports and news. EV Charger: JuiceBox tier 2 electric vehicle charger. Boats and River Access: These are seasonal amenities and only available when conditions allow. Expect boats and river access when the summer dams are in (mid-June to mid- September). Conditions vary from year to year and can change rapidly – use your best judgement to determine your risk level and comfort in the water/physical activity. Stairs and a rustic path lead to a seasonal beach and river access. Part of the year, the beach is underwater. When available, there are 4 single kayaks locked above the beach. A mix of adult and kid life vests are provided. Driving Distances: Proximity to wineries: There is a wine bar in downtown Guerneville, Korbel Winery is 4.3 miles, and oodles more within a short drive. Nearest River Beach: Seasonally, directly behind the house – down the stairs, follow the path, and on to the river. For a year-round neighborhood beach, you can walk approx. a third of a mile. Johnson’s Beach is the closest commercial river beach, a short 1.6-mile drive, and all around fabulous place to enjoy the river, rent boats, inner tubes, beach umbrellas, and grab a beer and bite to eat - when they are open for the season. Otherwise, you can wander the beach, but the boats and concession stand will not be available. Dogs are not allowed at Johnson’s Beach when they are open for the season. Nearest Ocean Beach: There are many ocean beaches along the Sonoma coast, but one of the closest is Goat Rock State Beach just south of Jenner – 15 miles from the house. One of the beaches at Goat Rock is dog friendly. Distance to Downtown Guerneville: 1.7 mi by car, 1.6 if you use the historic walking bridge. Northwood Golf Course: 4.9 miles River Electric: A very hip camp and swim club with bar, small bites, and events is 1.2 miles – an easy walk for access to multiple pools and stylish lounging. Day passes available online. Distance to Santa Rosa Airport: 20 miles
