This home is perfectly located on the hillside overlooking the town of Matlock and towards the hills beyond. The traditional stone cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms and has all the amenities required for a comfortable self-catering stay. The south-facing patio at the front of the cottage has a table and chairs and is a lovely place from which to soak up the sun and enjoy the views in the warm summer months. Walking in through the front door guests will find the living room with characterful open fire which can be lit in the cooler Autumn and Winter months along with enough seating for four people and a television. Through the door can be found the kitchen with its traditional stove cooker positioned under the fireplace and the dining table. With the traditional cottage layout, guests will find the bathroom located at the rear of the property on the ground floor which comes with a shower over bath, WC and basin. Both bedrooms can be found upstairs with the master bedroom coming with plenty of drawer storage. Guests will absolutely love waking up here, opening the curtains of a morning and looking out at the incredible countryside views. The second bedroom is arranged as a twin. At the rear of the property, through a door leading off the kitchen is the rear garden. There is free, on-street parking for this home. While the cottage itself is located down a narrow cul-de-sac with not much room for turning, we recommend parking on Cavendish Road near to the entrance to Rockside Steps. For those approaching the cottage by foot, it is worth considering that the hill from the town centre is approximately 600m long at an average of 14% gradient. This home is ideally positioned for guests to access the town of Matlock as well as explore the Peak District National Park. Matlock grew up around the ancient stone bridge that crosses the Derwent. Its lovely riverside setting in a steep wooded gorge, is always spectacular, whatever the weather. The town has many interesting shops to browse, with a range of independent outlets. There are also plenty of pubs, cafes, and restaurants, offering a wide range of refreshments from coffee and snacks to full meals. Matlock outdoor market is held on each Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. A farmers’ market is also held on the 3rd Saturday of the month. The Cottage is a beautifully renovated large home set in the heart of Tideswell, a thriving little village within the Peak District. Tideswell has a host of amenities on your doorstep, while The Cottage makes a perfect base for larger families or groups to sleep up to 8 guests across 4 bedrooms on 2 floors. Upon entering The Cottage, to the left the reception area leads itself off to the open plan kitchen and dining area, with ample seating for all should you wish to cook up a feast from the fully equipped kitchen, however a host of cuisines are not too far away should you wish to dine in or have delivered. The marble work surfaces and centre island brings this kitchen up to a modern standard, whilst the exposed brick and features of old exudes charm and character. A large living room and snug area on the ground floor, with TV, Log Burner and ample comfortable seating for all with games, DVD’s and books to keep most entertained, makes this a cosy base for guests to make memories. Additionally on the ground floor, a bathroom with shower and WC. The 4 bedrooms can be found on the 2nd floor, a Queen size room that can be made as a twin upon request, a King room, double and a twin. On your doorstep is an array of places to frequent whatever your preferences. The local pub, The Star Inn has a selection of real ales and home cooked food, while the popular Merchants Yard houses locally sourced dishes, but be sure to reserve your place given its popularity! The church next to the cottage, often referred to as the "Cathedral of the Peak", has been ringing its bells in the same way for at least 400 years. The bells chime every quarter hour throughout the day and night, with additional strikes marking the hour. This is a longstanding part of village life and, according to local residents, is something that most people quickly become accustomed to and rarely notice after a short time. The towns of Buxton, Bakewell and Matlock are a short drive away, with many attractions from Buxton’s famous Opera House, Bakewell’s tasty tarts to Matlock’s Baths, while the stately Chatsworth House is worthy to behold. Buxton famously houses a beautiful country park, yet the Peak District and its many walking and cycling routes are there for any type of holiday go-er, whether that be traversing Mam Tor or a leisurely walk around the Deep Dale Nature Reserve, there are plenty options for those wishing to bask in nature. Located on the ground floor, Chatsworth is a versatile twin room featuring an en-suite bathroom. The beds are zip-and-link, allowing them to be converted into a luxurious super king-size bed upon request. This room ensures easy access and convenience for guests preferring ground-floor accommodation. Also on the ground floor, you’ll find a convenient WC and a utility space equipped with a washer, iron, and clothes airer, ensuring you have all the comforts of home during your stay. Ascending the stairs, you will discover the heart of The Staffordshire Knot: a spacious living room designed for relaxation and socialising. The room features a plush L-shaped sofa, a comfortable three-seater sofa, and an extendable dining table perfect for shared meals or game nights. Entertainment options abound with a 50-inch TV, a collection of jigsaw puzzles, and a variety of books to suit all tastes. The kitchen, situated at the top of the lounge, is a chef’s dream. It is fully equipped with an induction hob, oven, dishwasher, full-height fridge freezer, and an additional fridge for your convenience. A microwave, kettle, toaster, and a coffee machine compatible with Philips L’or or original Nespresso pods are also provided. To make your stay even more enjoyable, we offer a welcome supply of coffee, tea, sugar, and coffee pods. For added convenience, cutlery is neatly stored in internal drawers located under the counter with the kettles. Down the corridor behind the seating area are three more exquisite bedrooms: Stanmore is a twin room, which can also be converted into a super king-size bed, is perfect for guests who prefer flexibility in their sleeping arrangements. Opposite Stanmore, you’ll find the main bathroom, which features a refreshing shower and a luxurious freestanding bath, providing a perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the peaks. Adjacent to the bathroom is a store cupboard stocked with a Henry hoover, sweeping brush, spare bulbs, and other essentials. At the end of the corridor on the right, Buxton offers a super king-size bed with an ensuite bathroom. Like the other rooms, the bed can be adjusted to twin configuration. In the near future, this room will also feature a day bed, allowing for additional sleeping space for up to two more guests. Located at the end of the corridor on the left, Monsal is another super king-size room with an en-suite, capable of being configured as a twin room. This room will also soon include a day bed for extra accommodation. All bedrooms are thoughtfully furnished with drawers, bedside tables, and hanging shelves, ensuring ample storage for your belongings. We also provide complimentary hand wash and 2-in-1 shampoo/body wash for your convenience. The Staffordshire Knot is controlled by a Nest thermostat located on the lamp shelf in the lounge, ensuring you can easily maintain a comfortable temperature during your stay. Guests will have access to the whole property for the duration of their stay. Keys are accessed via a key safe and access details will be provided shortly before your arrival date. Sheen is a small village located in the Peak District and has limited public transport options, but there are still several ways to get around the area and explore the surrounding countryside and nearby towns. Sheen is served by a few bus routes that connect the village to nearby towns and villages including Route 442 (Ashbourne to Cheadle) and Route 107 (Buxton to Bakewell). Route 442 passes through Sheen and connects the village to Ashbourne (about 7 miles away) and Cheadle (around 9 miles away). Both Ashbourne and Cheadle offer amenities like shops, cafes, and restaurants, and are good bases for exploring the wider Peak District. Sheen is also within reach of the 107 bus route, which connects Buxton (about 5 miles away) to Bakewell (about 8 miles away), passing through several other villages. Buxton is a market town famous for its Georgian architecture, natural springs, and the Buxton Opera House. Bakewell is well-known for its market, shops, and the famous Bakewell Pudding. About 5 miles away, Buxton Station is the closest mainline station, offering train services to Manchester, Sheffield, and other cities in the region.
