Neighborhood Our holiday home is in Figueira, a small village situated halfway Lagos and Sagres, in a protected nature area, the Costa Vicentina, reaching from Burgau to Odeceixe. This lovely village is very popular amongst surfers, families, nature lovers and golf lovers. The area offers little-frequented beaches, some almost deserted and hidden. Nature lovers can explore beaches between cliffs covered with vegetation such as wild rosemary, offering fabulous views over this rugged coastline. In spring beautiful flowers decorate the area. A selection of restaurants & bars are there for you to explore both local and international food. In Figueira you can enjoy breakfast and lunch at Andorinha do Mar, an organic restaurant, fine Portuguese food and stunning desserts are served at o Sapinho, and o Sabor da Alegria offers a vast choice of delicious pizzas and pastas. In Figueira you can buy all you need for your breakfast and daily meal in the small local supermarket. More local supermarkets can be found in Salema. There is a large Intermaché in Budens, 4 minutes away by car and in about ten minutes you will find a Lidl in Vila do Bispo. Also in Salema, a cosy ocean village just across the hill, there are more restaurants to be found. We recommend trying fresh fish and seafood dishes! Salema also provides rental beach chairs and you can even book a massage at the beach. Other villages by the ocean like Burgau and Praia da Luz , are nearby, and perfect surf spots are within reach because the first beaches of the well known west coast are only a 20 minutes drive away. Whether you want to relax, go for a surf or enjoy an amazing hike in nature, Figueira is the ideal starting point. Book a boat trip to watch dolphins or to visit the famous caves, go fishing with experienced fishermen or go out on the ocean to take a canoe trip, all is possible leaving from the Marina of Lagos, but also from Salema. Accompanied cycling tours or bike rentals can be booked at Musette’s, halfway Figueira and Salema, runned by nice Belgian owners. And when you return home after another impressive day you find an immense oasis of tranquility in Paraíso dos Pássaros. If you do crave city life at some point, the city of Lagos is only 20 minutes away. .And why not plan a short trip to Lisbon by train or Flixbus? You can reach Lisbon in 3,5 hours by bus or car. Feel like experiencing the Spanish siesta atmosphere? Within 5 hours you are in the heart of Sevilla, enjoying tapas for dinner. Transit You can reach Figueira in about little over an hour by car from Faro Airport and car rental is available in the parking lot of the airport. By train it will take about 4 to 5 hours. The best way to travel the Algarvarian coast is by boat or car. If you really want to explore the area, a (rental) car will make your life a whole lot easier as public transport is limited and time absorbing, but will also get you around. Outside Lagos Parking is free and there are plenty of parking opportunities abundant in this area. Space This townhouse is within a few minutes walking distance of the beautiful blue flag beach of Salema, the fresh fish restaurants and the centre of this quaint village. The property has been refurbished to a high standard and is bright and welcoming! On the ground floor, you find the living/dining room with doors opening onto the spacious south-facing patio. The outside area is very private and has ample space for sunbathing, and it is perfect for enjoying your Alfresco dining. There is an open-plan kitchen with a microwave, small oven and electric induction hob. The freezer and washing machine are located in the utility room. On the same level, we also find a bathroom with a shower. A staircase leads to the first floor which has two spacious bedrooms with sea views, and one has a small balcony. Transit You can reach Salema in about one hour by car from Faro Airport. By public transport, it will take about 4 to 5 hours. There are various taxi and shared shuttle options available as well. You can easily reach the beach and Salema town on foot. But f you want to explore the area, a (rental) car will make your life much easier as public transport is limited.
