Here you will find ancient cave homes and burial sites from the Middle Ages carved into the mountain. It’s a fascinating place and offers a glimpse into Sicily’s past. A 45-minute drive takes you to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Noto, another example of striking Sicilian architecture. It has an array of nice bars and restaurants and the Corso Vittorio Emanuele walkway, which passes palazzi and churches, is one of the highlights of the town.  Syracuse can be reached in a little over an hour and is a wonderful city to spend a day trip exploring. Its main attraction is the old town called Ortigia, with its display of ornate façades and its vibrant atmosphere.
