The houses are on the edge of the artistic town in a residential area with a semi-rural ambience thanks to its tree-lined lanes and countryside landscapes a few steps away. Saint-Rémy is around a 5-minute drive away whilst the most energetic could walk into town within half an hour (there are even pavements most of the way, depending which route you take). Potter around the medieval lanes of this incredibly picturesque village, officially classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ and much-loved by day-trippers from across the region. Follow one of the many walking trails around the village and beyond, an area also ideal for keen cyclists and horse-riding enthusiasts. Stop off for lunch in the pretty village of Maussane-les-Alpilles (2.5km) with its attractive restaurants, famous olive oil and pretty square which hosts a charming market on a Monday morning. A little further is Le Bistrot du Paradou (4km), an iconic Provençal restaurant favoured by the likes of Rick Stein. Eygalières (19km) is another picture-perfect village discreetly loved by celebrities. Visit Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (9km), well known for its associations with Van Gogh, on a Wednesday morning to soak up its ambience at the delightful market. Learn more about the great artist in the historic town of Arles (21km), the gateway to the Camargue. Avignon (29km) is another fantastic day out whether enjoying its markets and restaurants or admiring its UNESCO World Heritage sites, the Pope’s Palace and Pont d’Avignon. Maison Sanctuaire is an exquisite 5-bedroom villa in Provence with lovely rural views from its flower-filled terraces and attractive swimming pool. It’s a five-minute drive from Maussane-les-Alpilles’ charming restaurants and shops as well as being close to the famous village of Les Baux-de-Provence. Wood-beamed ceilings and cool tiled floors add character to the open-plan living and dining spaces with chic furnishings alongside a great sense of style. Light floods in from the arched windows that open out to the terrace framing the garden and swimming pool view.
