The Lighthouse at Starfish Cove
If you’ve ever dreamed of staying in a lighthouse, this is the vacation rental for you. This recently constructed Newport home features the same floor plan and exterior as the old Yaquina Bay lighthouse, but with a chic interior, modern home comforts, and an amazing location adjacent to the coast.
With the beach in your backyard and Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area directly to the south, this vacation rental is perfect for families who plan to spend a lot of time exploring the great outdoors. Newport’s city center is a little more than three miles south, so you’re never too far from shopping, dining, or entertainment.
Inside, this home is beautifully and professionally decorated, with tasteful furnishings and a warm, soothing color palette. Subtle design elements such as rope and seashells speak to the home’s lighthouse influences.
The parlor features plush furnishings, which are grouped to encourage conversation. Relax and catch up with your loved ones in this cozy room, or plan a family movie night and see what’s playing on the flatscreen cable TV. You can also use the complimentary WiFi to stream your favorite shows to your personal device.
You’ll have everything you need to prepare tasty meals for your group in the spacious open kitchen, which includes ample counter space, updated stainless-steel appliances, and convenient extras such as a French press, a blender, and a mixer. Grab a stool at the breakfast bar, or sit down at the six-person table.
Head upstairs to find this home’s three bedrooms, pausing on your way to admire the banister at the bottom of the staircase, which dates to the 1890s. Two of the bedrooms feature queen-size beds, and the third bedroom has two twin-size beds, perfect for kids. The fourth bedroom in the tower, accessible via a ladder, offers a trundle bed, making it a great space for two kids. There’s also one full bathroom and one half bathroom, as well as a laundry room downstairs. Altogether, up to six guests are welcome to stay the night at this vacation rental.
After a refreshing night’s sleep, you’ll have plenty of activities to choose from nearby. A few minutes’ walk will get you from your front door to the beach at Starfish Cove, where you can stroll along the shoreline while you look for sand dollars, sea glass, or other interesting flotsam. Pack a picnic lunch and make your way to Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area for an up-close look at incredible tide pools, or get a ranger-led tour of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse.
If you need a break from the beach, head down to Newport for a day of shopping and dining downtown, or browse the art galleries on the historic bayfront. For a glimpse of life below the ocean’s surface, check out the incredible exhibits at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. And be sure to visit the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse, located toward the south side of town, and take photos to compare with your unique vacation rental!

About the area
Newport, Oregon, is a delightful coastal city that offers a variety of attractions for visitors. It's known for its breathtaking natural beauty, with expansive scenic beaches and the prominent Yaquina Head Lighthouse serving as a striking feature against the Pacific Ocean backdrop. The area is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking, surfing, and wildlife spotting. You might even have the opportunity to see gray whales during their migration season.
The city's maritime heritage is apparent in its historic bayfront district where fishing boats are frequently seen coming and going, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere. Here you can discover a range of shops offering local crafts and fresh seafood restaurants presenting the day's catch.
Newport houses the well-regarded Oregon Coast Aquarium, which offers an engaging insight into marine life in the Pacific Northwest. Its exhibits showcase a variety of species from sea otters to sharks. For more hands-on marine experiences, Hatfield Marine Science Center provides educational programs and exhibits about marine science and ocean conservation.
For those interested in history, Newport's Historic Nye Beach neighborhood features charming streets lined with Victorian homes, boutique shops, art galleries, and eateries. It's an excellent place to wander around while immersing yourself in local culture.
In terms of food experiences, Newport certainly doesn't disappoint. The city has numerous restaurants serving everything from locally sourced seafood to international cuisine. And while Rogue Ales & Spirits has its headquarters in Newport - it was originally founded in Ashland - it still offers tours and tastings at its Newport location.
Beyond coastal activities, Newport also boasts attractions inland like the Lincoln County Historical Museum located in the central part of town. Additionally, it provides amenities such as hotels and shopping facilities to cater to tourists' needs.
In summary, Newport merges natural beauty with cultural richness making it an appealing destination for all types of travelers - whether they're seeking outdoor adventures or prefer exploring local history and culture.
