Perched up above the wetlands, this home provides plenty of opportunities for wildlife and bird watching. You’ll be just a few minutes from the ocean and even closer to Cape Meares Lake, and you’ll be less than eight miles from supermarkets, restaurants, and more in Tillamook. Make time to relax in the private hot tub at home – the view overlooking meadows, the ocean, and Cape Meares Lake is one-of-a-kind.
This multilevel home is designed and decorated with comfort and style in mind, all with a mid-century modern flair. After you’ve unpacked, unwind in the den and watch a movie on the flatscreen TV. You’ll have plenty of options with the DVD library, DVD/Blu-ray player, and Netflix streaming. Or stake your claim on one of the window-facing chaise lounges in the upper level and enjoy the view. Plan your itinerary with the complimentary WiFi or find a good book from the selection and settle in for a long read. This home also has a Verizon cell phone service booster.
At mealtime, head to the completely remodeled kitchen to make all your family’s favorites in the well-equipped space. You’ll be set for easy meal prep and cleanup with stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher. Dine together at the large table and enjoy gorgeous water views. In the warmer months, grill up a scrumptious barbecue meal on the gas grill, and savor it on the deck.
After dinner, retire to the living room for a repose and warm up by the wood stove, or steal away to one of this home’s many nooks for some alone time. Kids might like to carefully climb the ladder into the loft space, where they can play or look out the windows. There’s also an area with a small desk and monitor, so bring your laptop and get some work done.
The main bedroom boasts a Tempurpedic king-size bed and a full attached bath. The second bedroom has a Tempurpedic queen-size bed. There is also another full bath downstairs. Add to that the queen-size sofa bed in the den, and this two-bedroom, two-bath home accommodates up to six guests.
For your added convenience, there’s also a heated outdoor shower and a mud room for all your sandy items and clothes, and you’ll have a private washer and dryer nestled in the kitchen.
If you came to the coast to relax and regroup, you’ll have everything you need close at hand. When you’re not out enjoying the lake or taking a stroll on the beach, you can get everyone together for a game night, thanks to the selection for kids and adults. Or make good use of the lovely yard and play a fun game of croquet (provided). Or take a repose on the deck and see bald eagles and even see the resident herd of elk enjoying the wetlands below.
And when you want to get out and explore, check out the Cape Meares Lighthouse (please note that the road south of Cape Meares is closed, so you’ll need to reach it via Oceanside). Head to Bayocean Peninsula Park for some light hiking, then pay a visit to the Tillamook Cheese Factory for a tour.

About the area
Cape Meares, located on the beautiful Oregon coast, is a destination that offers a serene escape into nature's embrace with a touch of mystery and history. This scenic headland extends into the Pacific Ocean, providing visitors with breathtaking views, wildlife spotting opportunities, and a sense of tranquility that is hard to find elsewhere.
One of the main attractions at Cape Meares is the historic lighthouse that dates back to 1890. Although it is one of the shortest lighthouses in Oregon, it stands as a proud beacon with a storied past. Visitors can take guided tours to learn about the lighthouse's history and get an up-close look at the Fresnel lens that once guided ships safely to shore.
The surrounding Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint is a haven for nature enthusiasts. With trails winding through lush coastal forests, it's an ideal spot for hiking and birdwatching. The park is home to the largest colony of nesting common murres and is also a great place to spot puffins, bald eagles, and peregrine falcons.
Another natural wonder at Cape Meares is the "Octopus Tree," an unusual Sitka spruce with branches extending like tentacles. This massive tree is a subject of local lore and speculation, with theories about its unique shape ranging from Native American cultural practices to extreme weather events.
For those interested in marine life, the tide pools at Cape Meares are teeming with sea stars, anemones, crabs, and other coastal creatures. Low tide reveals this hidden underwater world, offering a glimpse into the rich biodiversity of the Oregon coast.
Photographers and romantics alike will appreciate the stunning vistas from the various viewpoints around the cape. The dramatic cliffs, crashing waves, and panoramic ocean views make for unforgettable sunsets and provide a perfect backdrop for memorable photos.
Cape Meares also serves as a gateway to the Three Capes Scenic Route, which includes nearby Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda, each with its own unique landscapes and attractions. This scenic drive is a must-do for anyone visiting the Oregon coast, offering a journey through charming coastal towns, beautiful beaches, and rugged headlands.
In summary, Cape Meares is a destination that offers a mix of historical intrigue, natural beauty, and outdoor adventure. It's a place where visitors can connect with the environment, discover Oregon's coastal heritage, and find peace away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
